Cuiting Restaurant — Restaurant in Shanghai

First of all - I have to say I find it unfortunate to give a ‘poor’ rating as actually the owners & food were outstanding. All of it got ‘ruined’ by the most unfriendly & rude waitress that was serving me. The details:

1- Very warm welcome & effort for English upon arrival by the Owners

2- Food outstanding. Real traditional food & many choices. Price also really good for the amount of food you get.

3- Waitress serving me: unacceptably unfriendly/rude.

I am fully aware of Chinese cultural differences & language barrier, but when operating in the ‘restaurant scene’, friendliness is key for the customer experience. Especially when on TripAdvisor/promoting the label on the door, foreign audience need to be addressed at least with some basic kindness (if of-course they are friendly too, which I was).

To go into depth here; besides to real unfriendliness every single interaction (order, receiving of food, ... ), this was the ‘over the edge item’:

When finished my ‘duck dish’, I did not eat the bones/some skin. When the waitress took the dish back, so said something to 3-4 colleagues after which she started all the laugh. Again, I know how about Chinese principles on this topic, but at least try to do this without the customer seeing as this just ruins the dinner experience!

My advice to the owners (as they are really doing well): revise your staff/customer interaction principles OR don’t try to attract foreign customers anymore.
