The Blue Mountain youth hostel location is fanatic , the hostel public WC and shower room is extremely clean and tidy , the sky garden outside lobby is very unique among all “hostels” around that district , I trust that is the shining selling point of this property.||I do not think the Front Desk team is helpful and warm, feels like that there were there for a job not for working, there are so many international different skin color guests all over the world , especially too many Chinese face Chinese nationality long staying guests there, the Front Desk should be more warm , more friendly as well as more home-like style , they always refuse guests requests , especially one lady working in the daytime shift ( wearing glasses ) uses a very STRONG attitude and tone to notice me that I must clean the bed sheet and blanket cover and pillow cover when I check out , the luggage could only be stored for free the same day , guests must pick up the same day, otherwise there will be additional RMB10net for storing fee per day , if the feet slippers in the box outside public WC is not available , it means there is no extra , she strongly refused me to ask HSKP to keep one for me if they clean other checked out rooms if there is one , she was reluctantly to be answered they she has to inform HSKP aunt to keep one slipper if there is one when to clean the checked out rooms , however the next day morning , when I met HSKP aunt in the sky lounge balcony , I asked HSKP aunt , I do not Think HSKP aunt was informed . I did stay in your property for two stays within one week, I do not think your property management control or manage the slippers , the box is dirty , every time I saw is empty, I had to use my shoes as slipper after to take a shower .||In China , there are too many jobless people who could speak very good English , also part time helper is very popular in Shanghai , I really hope the Blue Mountain Hostel Shanghai management could keep training or gave more authorizations to your staff to keep a good relationship with all guests to make them more warm to stay your hostel .||I have already checked out , you know who I am and maybe you already shared my request or my profile in your hostel WeChat Group , it does not matter la .||I will also made OTA booking in future if in need , if you do not welcome me , you could blacklist me . it does...
Read moreBlue Mountain has several hostel properties in the Shanghai area, this review is for the one located near the Bund. The actual hostel is located on the 6th floor of a multistory building and there is no sign outside, so look for the building number. Getting here from Pudong airport is super easy - you can take the Maglev Longyang Rd station Nanjing Rd station and walk about 5 min, or just take the line 2 the whole way to Nanjing. Location is good-- close to Nanjing Rd and the Bund.
The staff is very slow in checking visitors in and out - I stayed here twice for stopovers and always had a wait, even though there were multiple staff behind the desk. Staff spoke a bit of English but were not particularly warm or friendly, so definitely take the initiative to ask questions since no additional info beyond the basics will be offered.
Facilities were decent, on par with other hostels I've stayed in. Dorms have lockers & you can borrow a lock for free. Mattresses are thin but sheets are clean and you remove them yourself when you leave (just try to ignore the stains on the mattress pad below...). They ran out of 6-bed dorm beds on my second stay and "upgraded" me to a small bunked twin room that I shared with another girl. This room had more amenities but was significantly smaller and was right by the loud showers. Bathrooms are clean and water pressure is good, but of course remember to bring shower shoes!! A bonus to this location is the nice patio.
Overall a decent, cheap place to spend a night...
Read moreOriginally booked into having my own standard room, however i got a free upgrade into what i can only describe as my own suite upon checking in, the room was huge and absolutely amazing! The staff are helpful and friendly, bed was super comfy. International plug sockets and WiFi in the room.||Hostel is located in a building near the corner of Shanxi S Road and Beijing E Road through a plastic strip curtain. Easiest way there is to take the metro to Nanjing East Road (also conveniently on the same metro line as the airport) and then use exit 1 and walk for 5 minutes up Shanxi S Road. Around a 10 minute walk to The Bund which is convenient.||I couldn't rate this place enough if you are staying in Shanghai, considering the prices of some of the surrounding hotels the place is unbelievable for location and value for money - book the suite if you can! Would 100% stay here again!||Also worth noting the hostel is cash only payment, there is an ATM in the metro station if you use it to arrive, the hostel also requires a 100 yuan deposit which you get back when you...
