My friends and I booked two twin rooms for three nights at this hotel. Check-in was pretty smooth and the reception was helpful in relation to our requests for their assistance to book restaurants.||||We were given a complimentary upgrade to our twins room and as a result, the rooms were more spacious than we expected. The room was furnished with all the necessary facilities and the bathroom, while on the small side, has all the toiletries that you will need.||||The location of this hotel is very good, being just a 1-2 minute walk from Exit 1 of the Nanjing East Road. Nanjing East Road itself is one of the main shopping streets in Shanghai and is bustling throughout the day. The road itself also leads to the Bund in about a 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. The metro will also bring you to everywhere you need to go in Shanghai. Going to and fro the Shanghai Pudong Airport is also relatively convenient via the metro and involves a single transfer at Longyang Road station.||||The hotel was pretty good and the location was excellent, and for the price, I would definitely consider returning to this hotel should I visit...
Read moreHotel is about 3 min to the shopping street and 20min walk to the Bund, so it is in a central location for first time visitors. So for the location and price, it is value for money. However, this because of the price point, you get many noisy budget tourists at the lobby slurping their packed noodles etc. Furthermore it is next to the Police Station, and early in the morning the police will be shouting over loudhailer to ask cars to move out of the street as it is a no parking/no waiting zone. Restaurants are just downstairs and hence noise levels are really high given that there are only 5 floors in this old building, and I actually stayed on the 4th floor.||||I didn’t like the ventilation of the room as the windows cannot be opened, and there is a weird smell that I dislike. Also the room and lobby are very dark, lighting is poor. Otherwise the room is still comfortable for...
Read moreThe moment I entered through the front door, I was confused about the location. It turns out there are three locations within a 10-minute walking distance, and the one I entered wasn’t the one I had expected. This hotel is located next to the iconic Peace Hotel and close to the Bund, but the surrounding area is lined with tacky retail stores, if you know what I mean. The lobby is small, dark, and situated next to a hot pot restaurant.
The room itself was clean and matched the pictures, but at 900 RMB for a double bed room, it felt overpriced—you’re essentially paying for the location. The next day, I switched to the Jinjiang Hotel and also checked out the Garden Hotel Shanghai nearby. These are upscale hotels truly worth 900 RMB. While they aren’t next to the Bund, they’re located in a more sophisticated and less touristy area, in my opinion, with a much better...
