The noodles were very tasty, especially the soup and fish. I love the cured frozen pork. It's very delicious. The atmosphere should have scored 3 or less because it was chaotic as we went during lunchtime peak hour, and it was December, so very cold. Everyone craved a nice hot soup. It's just a tiny little place with probably 8 or 10 square tables, but people didn't seem to mind. Even without a seat, they were willing to just be standing and eating the noodles. I can tell most of them were local. I give such a high score because of the overwhelming crowds. Something unseen for me for the first time in Shanghai. They do serve authentic beef noodles with great portion (I ordered the large one for 20 RMB and I could barely finish it) and delicious pickled mustard-green.
As I said before, I'm from Taiwan, whose people are quite familiar with beef noodles. However, their so-called "braised beef noodles with pickled mustard-green" are quite different from what we''re used to, as their soup is composed from essence of beef, soya sauce and "curry powder". Pretty much to my surprise, the curry adds the great touch to the soup. Wonderful!
