Not sure if this is the place to come here for the food in the restaurant, but I was told the Chinese pastries here are better. I arrived in the evening and there was quite a queue outside queuing for the pastries. On the other hand, the restaurant didn't seem that popular there were people dining but the place wasn't packed. I checked the recommendations and almost everything is good. Had to go with my gut feel and see what people bought to decide for myself. Although queue was rather long the staff were quite efficient and the line moved pretty quickly. Bought a few pastries from one lady, and when I asked for the Yue Bing (mooncake) she said it isn't available though you can see it on the tables. Turned out I paid for the pastries and had to go to another counter just selling the mooncake. Since was already pretty full after dinner, I ate the items over the next 2 days. It was good I have to say, although they do recommend eating the same day for freshness. Do note the pastries are made of glutinous flour so it can be quite filling even eating just a piece of it. First had the Tuan Zi, the green glutinous ball with the red bean paste. It was so good the red bean was so smooth and was so generous it was oozing out. Then had the osmanthus red bean which had a delightful osmanthus fragrance. The mint walnut was quite interesting as it's not very common to have mint in Chinese pastries. The one which stood out for me wasn't the sweet one but the savoury Yue Bing which was mooncake filled with meat. First time trying something like that and was impressed. Overall good pastries, and I will definitely visit again and will remember to eat on the same day for maximum freshness and softness of the...

Sham Dai Sheng in Nanjing street

Sham Dai Sheng is the most popular chinese cake shop in shanghai, we saw a long long queue in namjing street, and some local buying here too, so as we haaa, we picked 條頭糕, 雙釀團 and 蛋黃肉鬆青團, the first one is ok la, but the later one indeed in good taste

and we also going inside to have a breakfast time, quite causal you can order whatever you want haa

shanghai fried pork chop is lovely, really well cooked, with very crispy layer and it stays crispy even after taking picsss haaa

Steamed Bun stuffed with crab meats is good you can really taste the freshness of crab meat

Added a tofu water(light) is soothing, and good with fried foods

the staffs are generally nice and food price is pretty reasonable haa

Visited 20 July 2025 Sunny Sunday Morning. The following sharing are based on our unbiased personal opinion and experience

Just a short walk away from our hotel nearby.

Ordered their noodle & Xiao Long Bao. They had a dine in restaurant, take away for some sweet pasties, pancake, Chinese wrap and soy bean milk. Very versatile.

Noodle ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Can be better. Serving is generous

Xiao long Bao ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Not bad can try but I'm still exploring others

Soy Bean Milk ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Request for less sweet and turn out perfectly good. Very strong soy bean taste and smooth.

Sweet Pastries ⭐ ⭐ The skin is abit thick and hard. Not really towards our liking from where we came from.
