Recommended by my local friend in Shanghai. Reservation is a must before visiting. The crab is amazing here. We ordered set A to enjoy different parts of crab cooked in various methods, with flavour from refreshing to super creamy. The ingredients used are super fresh, absolutely well-selected and manually processed in the first floor. There are two sauces provided, vinegar with salt and vinegar with garlic and scallion. The first course is the steamed crab meat from the front claw and it goes perfectly with either sauce. The second course is fried asparagus with crab meat from its leg and it is very refreshing, tasting like fried asparagus with prawn. The third course is fried crab roe with crab meat; though there are some shell found inside, it is still a good dish and really goes well with white rice. The forth course is fried crab cream with sheet jelly; it is super creamy and with great umami. However, the sheet jelly is a bit over, soft but not tender. The fifth course is fired rice with crab meat. The rice is kinda soggy but very flavourful. The sixth course is the wanton with shepherd’s purse, crab and pork inside. After six course, melon and ginger tea are served. It is a local tradition to have ginger tea after crab cos traditional Chinese medicine consider crab as Yin and ginger tea can help boost the Yang within the body. Besides the set A, we also ordered two cold crab marinated with Shaoxing wine. It is a twist of the traditional one, using pepper to boost its umami. It taste great and creamy. Service wise, service staff ask for permission before changing tableware and will help top up the free-flow tea when requested. For atmosphere, this restaurant is located near Renmin Square and in a building with long history. Therefore there is no lift or wheelchair access. In short, this is a very great restaurant where locals choose to enjoy the feast of crab. It has a long history and super popular. Highly recommended to visit. Price...
