Quite clean and well run. Walking distance to the shopping district. A lot of cheap local restaurants close by, as well as grocery stores. Only one subway stop away from the Pearl Tower and also one from the Yu Yuan garden. Since you can't use Google and many other sites that you may be used to, better have a plan of the vicinity printed. If you are planning on getting there by subway, you HAVE to get out through the subway exit 6 of the purple line 10. Otherwise you'll simply get lost. It is connected with the green line 2, so if you are traveling from Pudong or HongQiao airport, get out at the East Nanjing Road station 南京东路 and DO NOT exit the subway internal zone by the automatic gates, simply follow big signs directing you to purple line 10. Once you get to the line 10 side of the station, exit the Subway and find the exit to town no 6. At the exit turn right and you'll get to the hotel in about 1 minute or 2. If you have no experience with subways in general, better take a taxi.
I had a two storeys room with spacious bedroom, small living room and a big bathroom - there was a shower, no bathtub. The beds were made every day, same with changing of towels and bottles of mineral water. There is a 24h front desk where you can get help with pretty much anything you need - we had to print boarding passes and order a taxi for an early morning flight. All was done quickly and withoit fail. They speak good English. There is no restaurant but they have a bar downstairs wheee you can get surprisingly good coffee at any time of night or day. Some drinks are in the fridge, included in the room price. You will also het cups and an electric kettle in the room, at least we had them in ours. Ironing, luggage storage, etc - anything you need, just ask the front desk. We were there on a business trip that took a week and I didn't feel extremely tired of the hotel, as I usually do. It is a very comfortable, although by no means a luxury place. Very good priceto...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel in April 2023 for 3 nights. It was while I was in Shanghai for the weekend between business meetings and I was looking for a clean, basic room in a convenient location so that I could easily go sightseeing during the day.||The location of the hotel is very convenient being less than 200m from Exit 6 of East Nanjing metro station (do keep in mind that the hotel entrance is up a kind of sketchy alleyway off Ningbo Road if you cannot find it easily). There is a FamilyMart 50m from the hotel entrance too. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and eager to help even if there English was limited.||Unfortunately that's where it ended for me. My room was dirty - it looked like the carpets hadn't been vacuumed in years and the wallpaper was peeling off and was stuck onto the wall with tape. Throughout my stay the drain in the bathroom had a terrible stinky smell that could only be masked by leaving the room window open and bathroom extractor fan on. The housekeeping was also not great as they only replaced towels and toilet paper - they did not even make the bed during my stay. The only redeeming quality here was that the bedsheets seemed clean. In addition, my room was located next to the elevator, so it was quite noisy with the sounds of the elevator going up and down.||To be honest, even though I didn't have very high expectations, I was disappointed with the hotel. From what I've seen it seems like if you shop around you can find better hotels for not much more nearby.||Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel and I will not...
Read moreIn many points this hotel just lacks the tiny bit of attention or care to make it ok. Some examples. Reception and breakfast area is freezing cold. They put up half a curtain in the entrance. So the cold winds just blow in anyway. If they would have put up a full curtain it actually would keep the cold out.
Wifi ia available throughout the hotel. Internet Speed throughout the whole day is around 0, 0000 mb per second. All applications time out because of this incredibly slow internet speed. It reminds me of the days I used a phone modem to connect to the internet. So there is wifi, but without an internet connection you can actually use so don't expect to be able to use the internet on workable speed.
There is an elevator. Only 3 floors in the building but usefull anyway. But if you enter this elevator with more than 1 person, or 1 person with a suitcase, it says overload. So we ended up carrying our suitcases up the stairs anyway. What's the use of an elevator if you cannot even get it to work for 1 person with a big suitcase? It said it could carry more than 300 kilo. Actually it stops working at over 100 kilos most of the time.
But if the price is attractive for you, you can go there. The rooms are quite clean. Bed is relatively soft for Chinese standards. Pillows ultra thin. Shower has a rain head as well as a normal...
