Giordanelli Ristorante Chapinero — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

The staff was very friendly and tried their best to treat us well. However, that is in the only good aspect of the restaurant. We saw that it has a 5.0 star rating on Google which is usually impossible. The restaurant didn't meet our expectations at all, that is why we think the 5 star ratings are fake (or belong to another restaurant)!

We started our dinner with bruschetta and tomato soup. The bruschetta was more tomato than anything else and didn't have a lot of taste. The soup was average. As a main dish we ordered different types of pasta which were way too much and bland. We also didn't get any salt or spices to give it at least a little bit of taste. Moreover, a "sommelier" greeted us at the beginning but she had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Instead of pairing a good wine with our food, she just brought us red wine in an Aperol glass right at the beginning. Furthermore, the waiters didn't ask whether we wanted any other drinks and when my girlfriend asked for water, they didn't ask me as well but just brought her some water.

Having read the reviews this looked like a great place. But…. As one reviewer pointed out, several of the 5 star ratings looked fake as they were almost all written by people with only 1-5 reviews and were absolutely over the top in their praise. Decided to give it a try as it is close to our hotel. Verdict: I agree many of the very high ratings are probably fakes. The food was ok but in no known universe was it fantastic, just like Italy etc etc. it was OK. Started with bruschetta and a small margarita pizza to share between four guys. Bruschetta was very good, nice fresh basil etc. The pizza was good. Mains: highly recommended osso bucco was ok. A bit strange flavour to the gravy, seemed to lack flavour or normal spices. The three pasta mains were rated “OK” by the others. Service was good. Prices reasonable. But the most important thing…the food….Not great, not bad but nothing that would inspire...

Very nice intimate establishment which we really loved. We ordered 3 plates and a 4 cheese pizza, but the pizza tasted spoiled. The staff did an excellent job of making the situation better so we greatly appreciated them for it. The plates we had were delicious, I had the seafood pasta omg, great. They had a few items still in production so we didn't have access to everything in the menu but overall would definitely...
