After almost 4 weeks of traveling all over Colombia, showing my friends the country I grew up in, we stayed in different types of hotels / different budget classes, in the end: The Grace was one of our favourites considering the cost/benefit.||||The only downside first, wich doesn't affect me but might be interesting for other non-spanish speaking travelers: the staff's english is very limited (as it is in most of the country, so bringing some basic spanish skills is a big help), but they are all very helpful regardless and will try their best to give you tips with anything you need.||||The hotel is tucked away in a quiet street and still conveniently located close to the city's Gourmet Zone (Zona G).||The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. Loved the shower! If you travel a lot in Colombia you will find out that there isn't always good water pressure or hot water so this one won our hearts ;)||||We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, since one of our favourite brunch places was within 5 walking minutes but our friends that we were traveling with had breakfast in their room, and according to them it was good (not great, not bad: good)||||Even if you don't feel like going out for food, the rooms are well equipped with a small kitchenette and all the tools needed to prepare a meal and there is a Carulla (grocery store) about 10 mins. walk, just down the 7.||||If you are coming to Bogota for a "Colombian" experience, this might not be the hotel for you as it is more on the modern side and less about the traditional Colombian feel, but if you want a no-frills super convenient hotel, I can full-heartedly recommend it.||||My family lives in Colombia and I travel there often, so this is one that I will definitely come back to. ||||One thing and maybe as feedback directly to the hotel: we used their laundry service and they have a sub-contractor for that so this is not the hotel's fault:||the laundry service dried my Jeans so hot that the nylon seams melted and the cotton got burn holes. Again, this is not the hotel's fault and I only noticed on the morning we were leaving so it was too late to make a claim but if you use the laundry service, please let them know to use medium or even low heat...
Read moreLoved the location of the Grace Hotel, it's tucked inside a residential neighborhood and is the best spot to stay for best dining in Bogota. If you plan on eating well and walking home, this is the place!
The hotel/apartment blends in like a fine dining restaurant, there aren't any loud signs, but a discrete sliding black door you enter. Breakfast is brought up to your room. The architecture of the rooms itself is very clever considering how small and low ceiling space is.. The clear/glass bathroom, with a big shower is fascinating. There are some kinks with the closets, drawers that don't quite open, but did not impact my stay. Even the stairwell has ventilated holes, so it is an interesting design. Note: there is no elevator, so getting up potentially 6 flights of stairs in this high elevated city can get you gasping for air.
Modestly priced, perfect location, loved that we can walk to so many great restaurants in a quiet and safe...
Read moreThe Grace hotel is a wonderful mixed bag of, well, everything. Location - superb, surrounded by plenty of excellent bars and restaurants in a great safe area. Likewise, the general design and feel of the place are fantastic. But execution is weird... We extended our stay and so experienced two rooms in the hotel. They may as well have belonged to separate buildings. One was tired, poorly cleaned (dirty dishes in drawers and dust on every surface). It also needed some maintenance (loose taps, light globes needing replacement, stained sheets - not unclean, just burn marks etc, paint). The second room was the exact opposite. I'm unsure why that was the case. Given the price and location and fantastic staff I'd stay there again, I just hope management have a look at the rooms once...
