I stumbled across Casa Lelyte as it was recommended by NY Times' "36 hours in Bogota" piece. Was pleased at the inexpensive price and booked somewhat last minute for its central location without researching the area a ton. "Zona G" turned out to be quite a posh neighborhood, felt extremely safe, just a short walk away from Bogota's best restaurants and night life. Highly recommend "El Chato" a few blocks away for one of the top 3 meals I've ever had. ||Being from the US, I speak basic Spanish and was able to easily communicate with staff over booking.com and at check-in. I much preferred the opportunity to use my Spanish than a more internationally-catering hotel that would typically use English throughout. I felt immersed in the culture and warmth of the Colmbian people immediately, despite being in such a large city.||There were multiple locks on the doors and while no staff on site overnight, I didn't have any safety concerns (felt more like an Air BnB than a hotel at times, so nice and quiet). I found the vibe of the hotel to be exactly what I prefer when traveling - small, local, with much attention to design and experience. The gorgeously remodeled bathroom with luxury toiletries did not disappoint. Instagram-worthy midcentury modern furniture was present in every room. Freshest of the fresh sheets and towels were provided and refreshed. ||The breakfast was both simple and delicious - it was made to order, served in the atrium filled with plants and light. It included fruit, juices, cappuccino, and the most delicious fresh eggs and buttered toast! Even though I'm half a world away, I can't...
Read moreTucked into a side street in Chapinero, this hotel is really something to experience. With only 4 rooms, it feels more like a house or apartment that you’re sharing than a hotel. The rooms are impeccably decorated with gorgeous remodeled bathrooms. I believe two of the rooms have queen-ish sized beds, one has a king and the smallest has a double (by American standards). 2 rooms face the back of the building (and are above the restaurant) and 2 face the street. The rooms have vintage and mid century unique furniture and the entire place is gorgeous.||Things to know:||As the rooms are small and close, windows are vintage and thin so noise is an issue. Bring ear plugs!||Since it’s small, there are only people working there in the AM for breakfast and then when the restaurant is open. Bar is not always open and you may be alone in the house at times. The manager David was available via what’s app and was super helpful and kind. He set up rides for us and was very accommodating!||Ubers have a very hard time finding the place.||Great restaurants within walking distance and if the restaurant is open at Casa Lelyte definitely try it! Delicious and unique vegan and vegetarian food.||Overall this is a super unique and special place to...
Read moreThis is a great-looking small boutique place above a restaurant with great design and style, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed and helpful staff - David asked the day before if we needed help getting to the place which was great. Location is perfect in Zona G. ||||However it just doesn't quite feel like it's set up for a hotel from a noise and security perspective. The music from the bar is quite loud in the room - it didn't matter too much for us as we were going out, but you wouldn't be able to have an early night or relax after breakfast or in the evening and it did feel like we were just in a quite nice room above a bar. There's no safe in the room and nowhere to securely store bags - something we felt should be necessary considering the restaurant has an open door in central Bogota. The price didn't reflect our experience in comparison other places we stayed in Bogota, however not a bad stay at all if you want that...
