Baroca Sabor Ancestral 🍃 - Rooftop — Restaurant in Cartagena

I expected more from this place given the reviews. The cocktail didn’t taste right… then the food recommended by the server from the menu, was not even the same food that came out. The seafood pasta was advertised as black squid ink pasta with a variety of seafood but it was not that AT ALL! Not only did it take almost an hour for the food to come out, but at no point did anyone communicate with us about the dish coming out being different than the picture / description on the menu. When I noticed, I mentioned it to the server and that’s when they said they had to make adjustments. Barely any seafood. Honestly after a bite or two we didn’t even want the rest. The manager was rude and threatened to make the servers pay for the meal. That seems unprofessional to me. The restaurant should’ve owned up to their mistake and apologized. We did not have more time to waste to wait for another dish- since we were going straight to the airport. We almost missed our flight trying to argue with management about our bill.

Server was nice. But I wouldn’t recommend this place. I came to celebrate my birthday and they didn’t do anything...

Baroca Sabor Ancestral was excellent all around. We were seated immediately without any way, despite of being a busy Saturday night. Our server Alejandro was attentive, timely, and polite. He was knowledgeable about the menu, and the food came out promptly, and everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. I had the land and sea and the grilled octopus and they were on point. There was live music and the band was really good. The ambiance was beautiful and lively, and the view of Getsemani from the rooftop was another plus. My only observation is that when the band wasn't playing, the music was a bit loud for my personal preference. I would definetely recommend this restaurant to any one looking to try the cuisine of the area, and will come back to eat here when I return...

I rarely leave negative reviews (my profile clearly shows I usually highlight good experiences), but Baroca Restaurante was shockingly terrible. We chose this place due to its deceptive 4.9-star rating, but left feeling completely misled. The rooftop ambiance and service started out fine, but quickly turned sour. We endured an unreasonably long wait for our food, only to be served tough, tasteless posta cartagenera and a ceviche so vile it genuinely tasted rotten—like eating spoiled fish straight from the trash. We both felt sick within 20 minutes. When we politely pointed this out, we were rudely ignored and given the full bill without apology or acknowledgment. Serving spoiled seafood is utterly dangerous and totally unacceptable. Avoid this place...
