Rooftop La Magnolia Cartagena — Restaurant in Cartagena

To who may concern I was just dining at La Magnolia in Cartagena. I am a restaurant traveler where I travel to give feedbacks to restaurants and make sure they get appreciated the right way. I heard and saw many good things about this place which I found on IG as I was able to go by. Unfortunately I didn’t had a chance to read the reviews BIG MISTAKE! . Today was my girlfriend’s birthday, I made a reservation weeks ago, way before arriving to Cartagena. I was expecting a nice environment or a nice table I wasn’t concerned about prices. But I get a cocktail table, service was awful! Drinks were not good, my food took 45-50 minutes to come out! It was cold, it wasn’t cook to the right temperature, meat was not the right portion of a ribeye (I am an executive chef) so I would know, not served as they described in the menu. The server said they were taking so long because they were going by order of people coming in, it’s very understandable but then why my food came out cold, not complete, and there was this lady server who promised me when I made the reservation a dessert for my girlfriends bday and they never brought it out. They were in a rush of cleaning to close or idk but only one server was on the floor. I am very disappointed and I feel sad that I invested my time on this place and maybe I could of give another restaurant the opportunity to show me otherwise. Very sad because today was a very special day for me!. Definitely not recommending this place for any dinners, special events. Chill vibes and cocktails...

La Magnolia Rooftop was a great option to have brunch. At the moment, they offer unlimited food and cocktails from their brunch menu on a Saturday and Sunday for 150,000 COP. This is about 40USD per person and that is unlimited cocktails from 11:30 - 3pm. Their Instagram advert also says you can use their pool, which is a great way to cool down on these hot days. The food was small and very tasty. Although they offer about 5 or 6 items I was full by 2 small dishes. You can have any of the items and repeat any if you wanted. They also offer about 5 different cocktails including mimosas, all unlimited during the brunch hours and good quality. The DJ was great, nice lounge vibes. Most importantly the service was impeccable, from Zoila who took our reservation on WhatsApp to Veronica, who was our charismatic waitress and made sure the drinks and food kept flowing. The four of us had a lovely evening here. The location was so pleasant with a beautiful breeze and soft lighting. Service was wonderful by Karoline as she was patient with our attempts at Spanish and questions about the menu. She was fun to interact with throughout the evening. We started with appetizers (the bao and calamari were both delicious), as were our mains (local fish, shrimp). The meals were an appropriate size which left room for dessert.
