We arrived, quickly seated. They seated us at one of the smallest tables in the restaurant in a corner. We asked to be reseated as we usually order a few plates to share.
We then ordered. Got the food pretty quickly but then took multiple tries + minutes to get the tequila shot I asked for so I could make myself a tequila soda.
I then went to the bathroom, tried to wash my hands therefore I added soap to my palms. The water was not working. I went out to inquire to which I was told twice the water in the restaurant stopped working. Okay cool, but after multiple attempts of communication I told them I still needed some type of water to wash the soap off. They led me to a back room to rinse it off where it still had some water (I guess?)
I return to my seat to which my date was waiting on a dessert he ordered while I was gone for a while due to the water situation. After waiting for about 5-10 minutes we tried to get our waitress’ attention to ask her where the dessert was. It was already 10 pm at this point. Finally we were told by another waiter that there was no water in the restaurant therefore no dessert.
My thing is, sht happens, but why didn’t you tell us that when he ordered? Because we wasted time waiting instead of grabbing the check and simply heading home.
A couple of other things to note: Food was okay, I had better since being here. (mojitos for example, and that’s not even the best)
Waitress seemed so frazzled all the time, she asked me if my shot had arrived but there was no shot glass on the table ??
Super big fan was directly pointed at us so I was cold the whole time, they only stopped it at the end
They automatically added a tip (propina), to which at this point we were really annoyed so didn’t feel inclined to give one. After we asked another woman to remove it, she immediately called out to our waitress and let her know we weren’t tipping her. Personally I didn’t care that she knew right away, but it just seemed petty.
Overall, wouldn’t recommend. Place is beautiful,...

Read moreWe recently visited Mamasita Medallo and had a mixed experience. The food was phenomenal— full of flavor and beautifully presented — and the live DJ created a fantastic vibe that really elevated the night. However, our first impression was not great. After being seated, we waited quite a while without anyone approaching our table. Eventually, we had to signal a waiter ourselves. When he finally came over, he told us that at this restaurant, waitstaff don’t come to the table unless signaled — but honestly, it felt more like an excuse for poor service than an actual policy. This wasn’t communicated upfront, and it set a frustrating tone for the start of the meal. There was also an odd moment when the waiter asked if we wanted the salad that came with our dish. We asked if there was a substitute, and he said no — that it’s just that many people don’t eat the salad and it often goes to waste. I had to tell him that I’d take the salad and decide whether to eat it myself. Again, not a huge issue, but it added to the sense that the service was inattentive. Despite these hiccups, we really did enjoy the food and the atmosphere. With more professional and welcoming service, this place could easily be a standout. The kitchen and the music are...
