I absolutely love the Manila barrio in the El Poblado area of Medellin Colombia. If your not aware it is the official gastronomic zone of El Poblado, called "La Calle de la Buena Mesa" Mid-September 2023 I traveled there with my girlfriend and we were to meet her cousin a day later. I decided to try a new hotel. We spent one night at the Manila Hotel Boutique on the corner of Cra 43D and Calle 11. My 1st impression, the reception staff were not friendly, My girlfriend thought they were passive aggressive. They are strict regarding check-in time You can wait in a very small seating area where instant coffee & tea are offered but the stand was dirty and it was not fully stocked. When we finally got to our interior room 501, we both commented on how small it was and I expected it to be cleaner. The style is industrial as seen in the photos. We heard the elevator as it moved. However, I think it was a better room than those facing the street which is quite noisy due to traffic having to go up hill.|| In contrast, the roof top bar/restaurant and downstairs restaurant were delightful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast was excellent and filling. The night before we had tacos which put the tacos we had at Criminal Taco ( about 2 blocks away) to shame. If you are looking for tacos in the Manila barrio, this is the place. I contrast the accommodations at Manila Hotel Boutique with our stay at Manila Luxury Suites an Airbnb, nearby at Calle 12 #43D 109. Sharing the 2 bedroom suite made the cost less than the hotel and what a beautiful, clean and spacious apartment which welcomed us with complementary water and coffee to brew in the kitchen. I will be back to the restaurant and the Manila Luxury Suites Airbnb, but will not return to the Manila...
