*~.ā¢TLDR; just go. and if you donāt go, I along everyone else reading this will š Thereās a reason why Cafe Rico is the #1 restaurant in Puerto Viejo on TripAdvisor and hereās a couple:
one of the BEST breakfast spots on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, hands down. the last time I was here was back in 2017, and the food and beverages are as, if not better than I remember.
I highly recommend the Ana Rosa special š¹ Itās the perfect portion packed with all sorts of deliciousness āfried egg on top, avocado, fried yellow onion, ham slices, mushroom, side of sweet plantains, a small piece of beet (used it as a palette cleanser) all on a bed of frites āaka French fries⦠hehe wanted to be fancy š§
My partner ordered the Huevos Rancheros š³ and an order of the Banana Bread French Toast šš Both were both EGGcellent.
The staff also gave us a side of maple syrup, strawberry jam and spicy salsa sauce āthe two latter looked very similar so it was imperative they pointed out which one was which š the spicy sauce wasnāt exactly that, but it was nonetheless extremely tasty. I wish I could take a whole bottle and put it on all my savory dishes š¤¤
We also got a sweetened iced Chai and an iced Mocha. Both were pretty good, although my Chai had a fly in it which was a little off putting š but when youāre in the tropics, what can you do? š¤·š»āāļø
Nestled in lush greenery in Puerto Viejo, this lilā cafe operates also as a library/book swap, souvenir shop and laundromat. It definitely gets busy so you may have to wait until someone else leaves. Or, in our case, a nice fellow from Galveston Beach, Texas, USA let us take his spot⦠shoutout to you John! š From what I understand, you donāt have to wait to be seated, just find a spot to sit.
With that being said, there were so many different folks from around the world speaking many different languages. It really goes to show how awesome this place is. Bringing people all around the world to this lilā cafe š¤©
Our experience with the staff was great. The cooks did a fantastic job, and came out at a decent time too. Like I said, the place was PACKED, but we only waited about 15-20 minutes for our food. The two ladies so personable and friendly⦠didnāt ask for their names but whoever was working on Sunday December 12th, 2021ā yāall rocked!
CafƩ Rico definitely lives up to its name and is a true national treasure of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in the AM for breakfast after hearing rumors that āCinnamon Daveāwas making his famous cinnamon buns. I started off with a very nice fresh hot roasted cappuccino, that was completely amazing! I had the special which included Daves cinnamon roll, fresh eggs and fresh hand cut fruit, everything was amazing. After talking to the owner and the Cook, I decided that I needed to come back in the evening and try the five cheese pizza. Again, it was amazing! With the cracked pepper and the olive oil to dip the crust in, the perfect mix of cheese, the cool setting, some Wi-Fi to do a little bit of work and a nice book. Cafe Rico is definitely a place to visit if youāre in...
