Ugh. This was the low point of our trip for me. Positive reviews praise it's proximity to the beach, and it is close... right across the busiest road in town. We were there after dark and all you really experience is road noise and loud music.
Very loud music. They had the music cranked up so high that you could barely carry on a conversation. Part way through the music was replaced by a live performance that was... well honestly it was just distracting. The guy shouted his way through acoustic guitar versions of various English-language songs, then went table to table to busk for donations from his captive audience.
There's a big screen above the bar running nature videos, which I thought was pretty ironic given the location... it also didn't help when one of the videos became a documentary about animals eating a dead giraffe.
The staff was friendly and the food was fine, but it took an hour to arrive. Our drinks arrived quicker. I had a virgin mojito. In fairness, the mojito was delicious.
Also, this is the only time during our trip where we were hassled for being tourists. Earlier in the day when we were walking past, a man stepped in our path and tried too usher us into the restaurant. We declined at the time and moved on, but the experience left me very annoyed. We wouldn't have gone back if another couple hadn't invited us there for dinner.
If you're there for a beachfront-ish bar, it's probably fine, but personally I wouldn't...

When the waiter came to pick it up she asked why it was left and if I wanted a new plate. I told her it was fine and to just give me an order of fries (i had lost my appetite). Long story short, between my friend and I the total was 20,000+- colones and they had not charged the soup; however, upon paying 50/50 the bill came out to almost 14,000 EACH. My friend asked why, the waiter took the bill to check and came back with +3,000k cash change for my friend and I each. Without any apologies for overcharging us. They wanted to charge us the soup on the...
Read moreNo wonder they are slow. Unless you come in a huge group, they take their sweet time to serve you.
Im glad I canceled my order. The food being served looked decent, but people weren't enjoying it as much. Plus the prices are way too high for mediocre plates.
Get a cheap beer and get out of there. The only positive is their location and all of the tvs. Maybe a good place to drink, but that's about it. Save your money.
I went to a different place a few blocks away and immediately saved 3,000 colones on a mixto ceviche and it...
