The space is in a very nice part of San Jose, Barrio Otoya. The place is quite pleasant, with a lot of greenery and an old-world charm. It's close to the city center and pretty easy to get to. Prices are average; it's not a cheap place. It's excellent for going with groups or friends. I ordered a chicken in mushroom sauce. It was tasty, but the chicken needed to be cooked a little more. The service was so-so. I'm not sure if it was the time of day or that there were many of us at the table, but they were a bit rude to us. Other than that, everything was fine :)

Ambient relaxed stylish family restaurant with choice of indoor and outdoor seating and beautiful tiled tables. Extremely friendly and quick service and large choice available from their menu and chilled out music in the background creates a welcoming atmosphere. Found the mint lemonade and fruit punch extremely refreshing. The food was ok, portions were huge and generous. The patacones and tempura were interesting to try. The grilled chicken sandwich was decent and came with a side salad and fries and very filling.

We went here with a big group of 21 people, all vegans. This was planned in advance, and the dishes were prepared specially for our group, but it was obvious the restaurant is not used to feeding vegans, as there was no protein in any of the options that were served. The flavors were good, but there was no tofu, seitan, tempe, etc. We were all still hungry after the meal. Also, the pasta dish was extremely al dente. Service was slow, but that's understandable with a big group. They were nice.

This was the most disappointing restaurant I've been to in all of Costa Rica.

I ordered a margherita pizza. It arrived with no albahaca (basil), which is a crucial ingredient. This would be like ordering a pepperoni pizza with no pepperoni. They told me that's how they make it.

So what I ended up with was a blank crust with a lot of poor quality mozzarella, and a giant slice of 🍅. That's it. It costs 8,500 CRC ($15) for a small, horrible pizza.

In addition, I tried to pay with a 20,000 CRC bill and they didn't even have enough change to tender the transaction. I was forced to walk around the block and bother other businesses for change. The staff seemed indifferent to all of this.

The coffee was also disappointing, both in quality and options.

This Cafe attempts to serve Italian food, but do yourself a favor and go to a real Italian restaurant. There are many better options all over the city. Better food...

The beginning was good and welcoming until our server knew we were only ordering appetizers, dessert and wine. It took 20 minutes to get the bill after we requested it. My wife tried to get his attention multiple times but he blatenaly ignored her. When we received the bill finally our server stood over me saying, "aren't you going to tip the waiter?, The most attention at the end came from a dropped coin on the floor under our table. Immediately after that 3 servers came over with flashlights and i felt obviously awkward. Honestly, the restaurant is beautiful the food was good but having servers expecting more from Americans because we tip in the states put a bad taste in my mouth. People in the states make basically nothing per hour and count on the tips to survive. Where I come from you don't always tip full. It's different around the world When you do too it's about SERVICE not because...

We visited Café Mundo for a quick lunch but left disappointed. While the menu had plenty of options, nothing seemed fitting for a light midday meal. We decided to try the executive menu, but the experience was hindered by poor service.

The waitress wasn’t helpful in explaining the menu or how to order, only responding with gestures instead of clarifying. Other guests nearby seemed equally frustrated. Feeling rushed and unsatisfied with the service, we decided to leave.

I shared this feedback with the cashier, who mentioned they were short-staffed and busy that day. While I understand such challenges, clearer communication and better attention to customers would significantly improve the...
