I have had the most amazing food experiences at La Bodega. Every dish, soup and salad was a new mouth watering, soulful experience. Because the restaurant is closed on the weekends (I am happy they take time off) I purchased several meals including apple pie shaped like an apple with homemade ice cream (I have not eaten yet due to all the food I ordered to go) that I’m looking forward to eating later today. I have to tell you that the Spinach soup, Egg Plant lasagna and Gnocchi is so delicious, I am trying to figure out how I can get these dishes after I leave Monday afternoon. The only thing disappointing about the food is the bottom of the bowl/empty plate. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere of this wonderful restaurant is warm, friendly and truly interested in conversations with their patrons and always happy to see you.

Thank you Marcella, Pricilla and Connie for the love you put...

I had the most delightful meal at La Botega, an early dinner as it closes at 6pm. Priscilla, the owner, was so lovely and accommodating, recommending some of her best dishes. I had the house salad, which was fresh and tangy. Priscilla told me there’s a garden out the back where they grow and utilise the herbs and vegetables in their recipes. I then had a creamy sage gnocchi for main, which was just exquisite, and was paired with a delicious white wine. I was sufficiently full, but Priscilla let me take away a meringue and crème anglaise dessert to have later. For those looking to come here, I highly recommend a visit and will definitely be back next time I go to San Jose. The entrance is not clear on google maps and is actually around the corner on Ave 13, ring the bell on the gate...

I just had a lovely very late lunch/very early dinner here last evening, and it was by far the best meal I have had in a very long time. The flavors for every dish were wonderful - from salad to gnocchi to the Islas Flotatas - all so well done.

In fact, I may go back today for another meal - why go anywhere else? Tatiana and Conny are wonderful - it was a privilege to spend a bit of time with them. La Bodega is San Jose's best-kept secret - wonderful food, served with abundant kindness and a lovely atmosphere. The hours are limited, but absolutely worth shifting your day around to have a meal here. Do not...

Both the server and owner were very friendly and gave an above and beyond experience. The atmosphere is so cute, it feels like you’re eating in your grandmas kitchen. I had the gnocchi and it was absolutely amazing. Finished with the brownie desert that includes home made ice cream. Best meal I’ve eaten in Central America so far.

One of the best family owned restaurants I have ever been. The food was amazing and had a lot of soul and history behind. Farm to table produce was amazing. The owner of the restaurant is awesome person. I felt like home there. The service was amazing. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.
