Samui Thai @ Escalante — Restaurant in Carmen

My partner and I were so excited to come here . We met the owners outside the restaurant and told them we will be back. We came here last night to order something to go and I’ve never been so uncomfortable ordering food in my life. I wanted some vegetarian rice with no egg or shrimp the waiter literally asked me how am I going to enjoy my food? She called the other waiter over she she can hear my order and they both looked at me strange. I asked them if they ever met a vegetarian/vegan person before. This place is overpriced for the quality of food that is served. I had the Plad Lad Prik which was overcooked and almost impossible to eat. And pretty flavorless besides a simple chili sauce. The other dishes were not great either, just a meh experience with food, not worth the price. Atmosphere isn't Thai at all, it gives more library/café. And finally, the service wasn't bad until I had to get up and pay in the frontdesk because no one came to take back the bill/card to process the payment. Not sure if it's a recent opening, but lots of work to do since they decided to open in one of the busiest culinary places...

Not even close to the Beach Location!!! Not sure what happened, the shrimp served in half pineapple was nasty, the rice not fresh. What is confusing to me is the absence of authentic ingredients and herbs. Costa Rica: you can grow most everything, what we love about it. No sign of Thai Basil, the pad Thai was mediocre!
