The environment is nice with many different elements of design. Upper deck is good place to have drinks and hang out. However, I can’t tell the same thing for food. Portions are small. Food is overcooked and doesn’t taste as good as they look. The cocktail selections were poor and almost everything had sugars in it. I went through the cocktail menu for almost half an hour to find something to drink. I ended up ordering ginger jack with honey and it tasted less than mediocre. No alcohol taste. The ice melted super fast and it turned into a juicy honey drink. I didn’t enjoy it unfortunately.
The prices are outrageously expensive. You can have a lot more food with better quality in coastal Florida or California or anywhere in US for cheaper. I can understand certain things to run business but the food shouldn’t cost more in Costa Rica than US. It is ridiculous!
We were a group of friends sitting at the garden and everyone ordered different types of foods; surf and turf, shrimp plate, tuna carpaccio, mussels and clams etc. The steak was cold and tasteless, shrimp was way overcooked, clams didn’t have much meat inside and mussels were dirty. There were many broken shells in the plate so I had to watch every bite while eating, which was kind of irritating.
Aside from everything, there was something that I got very upset and angry about. The owner of the restaurant was somehow sitting with us ordering food and drinks for herself and for table to share. I learned later that she was a friend of some people in our group we were not aware of. We had some nice chat at the beginning about the restaurant and the history. I actually liked her success story. What bothered me later that they charged everything she ordered for herself to our bill. In my book, this is disrespectful and pure impudence. I ran restaurants and I know that a good restaurateur would do the opposite such as ordering some dishes for their guests to try for a free of charge, not ordering to the tables for herself and charge the table. I guess she owes her success to screwing their customers. It is surprising that this restaurant stayed in business for 8 years. I’m not sure it would last longer but I neither would go there again nor recommend this place to anyone. Good luck...
Read moreOrdered a fried calamari. It was frozen. You can tell. Felt like eating a rubber. I ate half of it because I was so hungry. Asked the waitress if it’s frozen or not and she confirmed it was frozen. She in fact told me most of the items in the menu are Frozen. I decided to not continue my dinner. And they have the audacity to charge me for the frozen calamari. Asked for the manager and they said manager is not on shift. Not surprised. The waitress is very gracious. She gave me her name when we first met but when I asked her name again, she refused to tell me her name because she knew I was gonna mention my name on the review. Anyways the management should know who she is because they must have a schedule. I’m here on September 26 2024 at 5pm. Ordered one frozen fried calamari without knowing it and drank 2 beers. But the kitchen staff looks like they don’t care. Do not come here. It’s a tourist trap. I’m here during off season and they still serve frozen calamari and the restaurant is right on the beach and it’s a shame to be serving frozen seafood when you are right on the beach. Ridiculous.
Ps: got a response from the restaurant. Still denying their flop. So I sent them an email. Still a mere one star. And I responded to their email and turned out the email bounced back. Looks like the wrong email too.
