There's no parking as far as we could tell. The place has a nice clean beachy feeling decor. The manu is short but varied.
I ordered the beef gyro. I have an allergy to raw onions and I asked the waiter if the dish came with any onions he said no that if the menu didn't listed it didn't. Well...it did. A big pile.od red onion on top of everything! The waiter looked at me like oh! So you want me to change it?🙄🤦🏼♀️ in shirt I was about to ask for a different dish when he came and said "well we could make the gyro w/o the onions" Finally the dish came and it was a good size portion and really good. To drink I ordered a strawberry lemonade whc8h Aldo had to return because it had NO sugar or sweetener whatsoever.
My friend asked for a breaded chicken breast (pollo a la milanesa) which was big portion and good just a tiny bit dry for my taste.
IMO it's a bit expensive considering I paid about $10 just for the gyro plus $3 for a drink I couldn't finish.
The chicken was about the same but it was just the chicken breast with a small salad topping no sides...those cost extra...
In sum it was ok, the food tastes good, portions are reasonablish. As far as service this could definitely improve as far as knowing the dishes and having better damage control.
It's unlikely that I would return when there are so many options in Jacó for good food at slightly more...
Read moreA very nice place to enjoy delicious food, atmosphere, live music and outstanding service!!! Go, you'll enjoy. We came here at the suggestion of a flight passenger who recognized us in the grocery store; he said there's a great view of downtown Jaco. There's seating downstairs with A/C and upstairs with a nice view of the mountains and Jaco. The food is professionally prepared and scrumptious. My husband had Mahi-Mahi and savored every bite. I fell in love with the Celery salad and ordered a side of Couscous, mouth-watering. Service was spot on. If you have an aversion to Cilantro (I can't eat it at all) please let your server know as it's sprinkled on most dishes. I had mine without and my mouth is still watering for another bite. We'll be back before we head home. Amara is a...
Read moreThis was our second time having dinner at Amara. The first time being two years ago. It's a lovely restaurant and the staff is very attentive. Our first visit two years ago was amazing, the second time, not so much. We ordered the white fish carpaccio and a small Greek salad as appetizers. The carpaccio was overly sour (maybe too much lime) and bland. The Greek salad was small yet tasty. For our mains I had the grilled chicken breast over eggplant caponata, plated with a small salad. The caponata was room temp and the chicken was fibrous and about half a full chicken breast. It all tasted very bland. My bf had the arroz Cardoso which was tiny. I tasted a tiny clam and it was average. Beautiful place & lovely staff however the food leaves something...
