Hostel de Haan — Hotel in Jacó

The only good thing I can say about this hostel is the staff were great, very friendly and helpful and there was a pool to cool down...||||As for the two nights we stayed here in Jaco, we arrive to 30+ degree heat to a room with only a ceiling fall which was just circulating hot air and a room right next to the pool.||||The days were hot and the nights were hotter. We had no hot running water (which would normally be an issue) however during this visit we were grateful for the cold water as we found ourselves standing under the water multiple times per day and throughout the night.||||Room we had was worse than a prison cell if you ask me..||||To top this stay off, there was a gang who would awake around midday and consume the pool/kitchen area until 11pm that night (until "quiet time"). Smoking weed and other drugs etc..||As a cigarette smoker myself, I'm conscious about where i can/cannot smoke and frequently took trips outside the hostel to have a smoke, however one girl proceeded to smoke in the communal kitchen area each day standing beside GAS CANISTERS!!||||One night this group came home approx, 4-5am in the morning and proceeded to plunge into the pool (our room was right beside the pool) for a good hour or so.||They would stand in the lane way (outside our room) talking and keep us awake.||Supposed to be 24 hr security, however unsure why this was not stopped?||||Rooms have no privacy and felt like people were about to walk into the room the door and walls were that thin.||||Did not complain as I was completely wiped from this trip and really not worth the effort as I felt I would get nowhere with staff.||||Would not recommend for anyone who is not into late nights/drugs/loud parties/large groups - or if you...
