Tsunami Sushi • Jaco — Restaurant in Jacó

I'm not sure where the other reviewers have eaten sushi if they think this place was great, but they must have been sub-par restaurants. It's very basic and lackluster sushi. Much of the various rolls on the menu are just a California rolls dressed with a different topping. It was extremely mid with low quality ingredients. Don't waste your money.

Also, don't fall for their "50% off rolls on Wednesday or Friday" special because all they do is jack up the prices of the most basic rolls so that when it's half off, it's just what the normal price should be. I'm from California where prices are generally quite high for most meals, but here they charge the equivalent of $12-13 USD for a California roll and almost every other extremely basic roll that no true sushi lover would eat. When the rolls are half off, they amount to around $6 -7 USD, which is what they would cost at way better restaurants in the US.

Came on a Wednesday when it was half price sushi. The hostess welcomed us nicely and waited about 20 minutes for a table for a family of 4. We ordered 6 sushi rolls which were all very good, but have to say the Bruce Lee roll was our favorite. The service is definitely something needed to follow-up on. Maybe we were passed off because of cuts because it took much longer than it should have for our first greet. When our server Maria finally came she looked uninterested and never cared to make any kind of connection. One positive note was she did tell us that we could be waiting about 30 min for the food which helped prepare us. Our fourth time visiting this restaurant. My son and I went in last night to have our dining experience ruined by the waitress Karina. She took our order and got the shashimi order wrong and even my son said how will she remember the order as she did not write anything down. Instead of salmon we received tuna which I never eat as sashimi. I politely said to her she got the salmon wrong. She initiated an argument with me that the tuna is what I had ordered. This lady has not business being in the service industry. Overall bad attitude specially when spending $95 for two people, attached is invoice. Needless to say we will never come back.
