This soda is an absolute must-try if you find yourself in Coco! Seriously!
Just a few minutes walk away from the main road, my partner and I fell in love at first bite on our first visit - and found ourselves returning 4 days in a row. The fish tacos were the absolute best we have ever had, anywhere - crispy mahi mahi, fresh tortillas, a delicious flavour combination of sauces and beans and fresh greens we won't soon forget.
The garlic Mahi Mahi was also fresh and well cooked, the casado a great value, the chicken tacos a surprisingly crunchy and tasty treat, and the lemon pie was so good that we had a couple slices. On our last day, we came for breakfast and enjoyed the breakfast chorizos - honestly, everything we ate here was exceptional.
On top of all of this, the service was friendly, efficient, warm, and all-around exceptional. There is obvious pride and love put into this space, and it reflects from the owner throughout, from a warm welcome to the chilera. Thank you for all of your hospitality!
You simply won't find a better meal for better value anywhere in Coco. Please, go and enjoy so that we can live vicariously...
Read moreMy brother and I are visiting Costa Rica for the first time. Our main culinary goal was to try and eat local Costa Rican food as much as possible. Well … mission accomplished. We found this fantastic little Soda near our condo. It’s run by a young woman who has a talented team in the kitchen. We’ve now eaten dinner here 3 times and each meal has been excellent. Everything we’ve eaten is expertly prepared from fresh and local ingredients. Beans and rice and Casada are 2 classic Costa Rica dishes and Soda Mar y Tierra’s versions look and taste great. The fish tacos were the best I’ve ever eaten and the fried shrimp special was excellent. The owner has very friendly way with customers and “no” doesn’t seem to be a word in their vocabulary. The restaurant serves food all day and the breakfast offering look great. We just haven’t tried them yet. Finally, the prices are fair and reasonable. My brother and I keep trying to go somewhere else but it’s proving to be difficult. We highly...
Read moreIn the month and a half I’ve been in Playa del Coco this has been hands down my favorite restaurant. It is consistent and consistently delicious. Their Casado are amazing and are very reasonably priced. The staff is always super friendly and nice, specifically the woman that runs the kitchen. She speaks perfect English and is like a giant ball of joy every time I come. My favorite dish so far has been their pescado empanzado casado. It’s a dish I will crave when I head back to the states. I also highly appreciate the fact that they do not short change their customers, it is something I have run into at several of the more “tourist” places here in Coco. Honest, great home style food, and upbeat service. I will continue to eat here until I head home. If you want some down home cooking style of food this is the...
