Decent, polite service, but just average food.
Had dinner here after a long day in Zagreb. I ordered the crispy duck in a mildly spicy sauce (which was definitely on the hotter side), and my friend had sweet and sour duck. We shared a portion of rice and had two Cokes and a Sprite.
The food was okay—nothing to write home about, but also not bad. Just what you’d expect from a standard Chinese restaurant. The crispy duck was fine, the sauce was decent, and the portions of meat were fair. However, the portion of rice was way too small—I personally needed at least half a portion more to balance the dish properly.
As for the service, the staff were very polite, which we appreciated. That said, communication was a bit tricky. Out of the two people we interacted with, the woman’s English was slightly better, but still not enough for a full conversation. Still, they were helpful and respectful, so no real complaints there.
Overall, it was fine for what it was. Not amazing, not awful. We left full, and that’s what mattered...
Read moreI have been frequenting this place for decades now. It is a family run, family-friendly restaurant with hearty portions and good cooking. So nothing fancy, but well done and with a very nice staff. The menu is based on the typical "Chinese restaturant in Europe" starter pack. The food is always fresh and tasty and the prices are crazy cheap. Their home made tofu used in mapo tofu and other dishes is to die for, so tender and delicate. The outdoor seating is really pleasant in the summer. They will accomodate vegetarian and vegan eaters. The wine and beer offering could be expanded. HOT TIP: Do not pick up the phone receivers on the upper floor and jokingly sing into them, even if you're a little bit drunk. The kitchen staff will hear you and won't tell you they did until you're...
Read moreI’m from Toronto and we’re very lucky to have great access to multicultural cuisine there. But looked at the reviews for this place and thought, ok, rated very good (even though the photos did not have me convinced). Took a chance. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I mean, I don’t know… maybe this is good Chinese food for Croatia… but the wonton soup here was zoinked. The wontons were raviolis, the broth was practically water just with colour and the sautéed onion, carrot and green peas don’t belong anywhere near this soup… we also got the veggie noodles… I wouldn’t ever come back here personally...
