I was only at the hotel for a short stay. Spent most of my day on the phone with Lufthansa who lost my luggage on the hour layover from Munich to Zagreb. I loaded a Europe SIM card in my Canadian mobile, but it wouldn't allow phone calls to Expedia and Lufthansa. Thankfully, Bruna allowed me to use her phone. The server at the Butler's pizza restaurant wrote down Arena shopping mall to buy new clothes and toiletries since this has happened to other traveller's staying at Hotel Slisko recently. After 3 pairs pants(belt included from CA retail shop), 4 shirts and toiletries, I was all set. The reception person Kataryna was also helpful and recommended the restaurant Batak Grill. It was a short walking distance from the hotel. It had an excellent food and drink menu. The ambience was pleasing and the music even more so. I heard a lesser known song from Springsteen, Simply Red, Sade and my favourite of Carole King, It's Too Late. I had the Salmon tartar and stuffed chicken wrapped in prosciutto. The server recommended a nice glass of the Croation white wine and he was right, it paired well with the meal. Onto Dubrovnik! I hope I won't get into an argument with Croatian Airlines over 2 carry on bags. One has my cameras and other needed accessories. I had to purchase a small piece of luggage for the new clothes and I sure as heck am not going to part with it and have it as a checked piece of luggage. BTW, Hotel Slisko has an excellent breakfast. Whilst they did not have a large assortment of fruit, they did have cantaloupe, pineapple, blueberries and can fruit. Overall, the price, nice reception and room were decent that I would...

My gf got FOOD POISONING from homemade desserts on the breakfast buffet (specifically 1&1/2 cinnamon bowl of dough with brown filling). I also ate a 1/2 and got upset stomach (but less so).

PROOF: She did not eat anything else than the breakfast that day, and I washed her vomit where I recognized the dough ball ingredients(in pics, only took from second vomit for which 80% was on the floor and 20% in toilet. Was too busy helping on 1st one).

Checked with the cook in the fridge the day after, no more dough balls (thank god!) but also no label with preparation date on the food which is against food safety rules for horeca. This is dangerous.

Yet hotel staff did not believe us because no other food poisoning was reported the same day. Less than 10 balls were available and often ppl do not report food poisoning if it's just a stomach upset. Do you need 4 people projectile vomiting to believe us?

We basically had to argue to get a late checkout at 12h, getting the room extended the afternoon so my GF could recover from their unhygienic food served was out of the question.

Also no reimbursement for the breakfast that got her sick nor for the one she could not take the day after because of nausea.

Night staff and cook were nice about it. Night staff provided new clean towels (on my request) because the other ones were dirty with vomit.

Morning staff guy with glasses was not at all : Did not believe us, did not give benefit of the doubt, fid try to find a solution for one second, unprofessional and below any 3*...

The hotel room was nice and clean on first sight but when you look closer you find a lot of things being very wrong. I had two windows in my room. One wasnt opening at all, the oder didnt close properly. Tilting it was not possible because no matter how you turned the handle it was always in the open position which also meant you could not block the outside noise from the restaurant below out. But since the AC wasn't working (no matter the setting, it was heating) sleeping with the window closed was not possible anyway. So you have a choice between a completely overheated room or loud noise and smell from the restaurant until midnight.|The bathroom was mostly clean but everything is half broken and the toilet is placed so close to the wall that sitting straight on it is impossible, despite there being more than enough room for better placement. Neither the sink, the bathtub nor the bidet had plugs in them and the pipes below looked very dirty. The shower hose had black stains that looked like mold all over it. It was not pleasant to use that shower.|There is only a single socket near the bed so you have a choice between using the bedside lamp or charging your phone.|The service was ok most of the time but the person who did my checkout was extremely rude just because I didnt understand the croatian text on the payment terminal which caused the first payment to fail and they had to...
