This is a very reasonably priced restaurant which is really hard to find in Hvar. Most restaurants are very expensive, coming from someone living in Dublin which is very expensive. The atmosphere and service wasn't great, especially for a Saturday night in the middle of August, but I'd forgive that for good prices.
I would return if I didn't have anyone with food allergies or preferences but would stear clear if you do. We went for what we thought was a safe bet, chicken gorgonzola which the waiter confirmed was gluten free... after thinking about it and researching recipes online, we could only find ones with flour added so my fiance got the coeliac card in Croatian and showed it to the waiter to be sure who didn't look at at it and sent her to the younger waiter who looked and asked the chef and confirmed there is gluten in it - lucky miss there. She asked what options she could have and none were offered. She suggested just the chicken without sauce and they said they could do this. During this process, she was made to feel a big...
Read moreNicely situated place in a quite place of a city. First the good side. Tables are spacious overlooking the hotel Amfora, its clean and you dont need reservation. This place has potential to be upgraded. First, service is basic, they are not to interested to give you experiance of a place, they will take your order and thats it. Maybe another waiter is better, who would know. Now the food. Fish soup was excellent, but portion mildly lacks of fish in it. Risott Nero was again very good and nicely prepared. Mussels were fresh but the portion could be larger, sauce was to salty. Pasta frutti di Mare nothing special. Butter and cream were dominating while shrimps were frozen. House red wine was fine, nothing special but definitely to expensive for the quality. And finally cake with carob, apple and chocolate was made with love and was the highlite dish of the evening. Overall on a Michelin level I would give restaurant 1/10 but on a tourist level 7/10. Nice place to visit but hardly that I...
Read moreA hidden gem!! Came here on a whim based on good reviews and after everything downtown seemed too busy. After a short, lovely walk we found Villa Dinka. We were surprised to see we were the only ones there, but it made for a nice quiet date!
The terrace was overlooking the ocean and adorned with tons of different fresh flowers, making for great photos. We were greeted by the owner, Nikša. He answered all of our questions and made great recommendations. We ended up ordering the mussels bourazza, gnocchi with truffles, Greek salad and sea bass with shrimp sauce. Everything was phenomenal! The final touch was a chocolate cake and fresh whipped cream from Nikša’s wife, on the house. Overall a great value, with all of this plus a beer and mineral water the total was less than $75 USD.
Nikša himself was a great, jovial host and made for a fun and memorable evening. Ask him about the history of the restaurant - interesting story! We would love to come back again during our short...
