Absolutely outstanding dining experience!

Dalmatino completely exceeded our expectations in every possible way.

We passed by in the afternoon and were warmly greeted, even though they explained they were fully booked for the night. They encouraged us to come back later as they often find a table for two without a reservation. True enough, when we returned in the evening, we were seated almost immediately.

From the very start, the service was impeccable, friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. A small magnetic hook was placed on our table for my partner’s handbag (brilliant touch!), and the staff asked if we had any allergies and whether we drank alcohol. We were immediately welcomed with a complimentary house-made aperitif and a bottle of water while we browsed the wine list.

The wine recommendations were spot-on and refreshingly honest, they didn’t push the most expensive bottles but instead guided us to something we would truly enjoy. We shared a beautifully fresh zucchini carpaccio as a starter, accompanied by another surprise: a complimentary slice of polenta bread with parmesan.

For mains, we had the creamy truffle gnocchi and the Brodetto with black pasta, both were absolutely outstanding in flavour and presentation. Again, perfect wine pairings were suggested. Portions were generous, so although we were tempted by dessert, we couldn’t manage another bite.

Before leaving, we were offered a house-made digestif “to keep you with us a little longer”, a plum liqueur that was the perfect end to the evening. All their complimentary drinks are crafted in their own little brewery, adding a personal touch you rarely see.

Beyond the incredible food and drink, what truly sets Dalmatino apart is the staff. Having eaten (and worked) in many restaurants, I can say it’s rare to see such perfect synergy, warmth, and attention to detail in hospitality. This place is nearly Michelin-star level in service quality.

The alleyways and side streets near the Riva Harbour in Hvar Town are a maze of little shops, market stalls, and local bars, making them an ideal place to sit and people-watch, with many great bars and restaurants. Down one of these side streets, we found the Dalmatino restaurant where we enjoyed the local cuisine and specialty wines of Posip and Grk. The food, wines, and service were good.

However, the restaurant's reservation system is highly problematic. Despite the outstanding general reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, and other platforms, our experience with their online reservation system, Seven Rooms, made our experience disappointing. We had made a reservation well in advance, as our ship was planning to arrive in Hvar Town on a Monday afternoon. Due to weather conditions, the captain had to change the routing and dock on the other side of the island. As responsible customers, we tried to postpone or cancel the reservation the day before.

We attempted to contact the restaurant and the online reservation system to delay the reservation by a day, but there was no way to reach them. There was no acknowledgment or option online to postpone or cancel. Understanding the potential cancellation charge of 100 to 140 euros within 24 hours, we even had our captain call to cancel. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that the reservation was for a Monday and the restaurant does not have a phone. Eventually, someone from the restaurant (Denis) informed us that cancellations had to be made through their website reservation system, leaving us unable to avoid the unfair charge.

Consequently, we hired a driver to take us to Hvar Town to dine at the restaurant. While the food and service were satisfactory, the inflexible and unfriendly reservation system overshadowed...

An exceptional experience at a restaurant that stands out as one of the best on Hvar Island. This review is dedicated not only to the incredible food but also to the outstanding service I experienced.

From the moment we arrived, the service was at the highest possible level. The restaurant staff provided a warm welcome and a professional approach that is unforgettable. I would especially like to highlight the waiter M.T., whose attention to detail and dedication to every guest was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu and his ability to cater to our desires made the dinner not just pleasant but truly memorable.

As for the food, the Tuna Steak we ordered was perfectly prepared—juicy, aromatic, and with an incredibly rich flavor. Every bite was a culinary delight. At the start of the dinner, we were served carob liqueur, which acted as a perfect "anti-stress" tonic and a fantastic introduction to the meal.

This place is truly a special destination for all lovers of fine food and top-notch service. Given the exceptional experience we had, I can say with complete confidence that I will be returning to this restaurant every year. If you are looking for the perfect combination of exquisite food and exceptional service on Hvar, this is a place you should not miss.
