Pasta and capuccino were good. But the disappointing part was their pizza. I explained to a waitress that I wanted something with salami like pepperoni or diavola, she recommended number 7. When they brought it, it was nothing like what was described. There was a bunch of thick-sliced aged ham, little cheese on top (not melted) and all in the middle. When I took one slice, it just all drooped off, as the dough was very soggy. It shouldn't be called pizza the way they cooked it. So we barely took a bite using silverware, realized it wasn't tasty. When the waitress came to ask whether we liked it, we explained this all. She left, and for the next 15-20 mins she was just avoiding us. Later she took the pizza away and went to the manager that was sitting by the bar to ask her how to resolve this situation and the manager legit started yelling at our waitress and two other waiters standing by the bar. The waitress came to us shivering and explaining that this is how napolitana pizza is made uhm and how was I supposed to know that if it's just called number 7 and was recommended like pepperoni which is a complete opposite of what I wanted. We felt so bad for the waitress. Nothing was offered instead or the pizza taken off the bill. We paid for the pizza we didn't even...
Read moreWe've been coming to Maka for the last 3 years, every time we visit we spend a few evenings at Maka and we love it. Homemade food, open kitchen, young but nice staff, cute space, prices go up, summer by summer, but it's still not too expensive.
We tried and love their pizzas, meat, homemade pasta, spring rolls, steak sandwich and more.
These are the things that would make our visits even better,
Tomatoes were tasteless and we ate them in August when you can get tasty juicy tomatoes everywhere and get them locally or grow them yourselves so this was a bit surprising since they seem to care about homemade food.
We always have to ask for olive oil or vinegar, salt, pepper, it would be nice if we didn't have to ask.
Lemon tart is too sweet and has too much whipped cream on it.
We were always wondering how come the restaurant doesn't offer desserts to find out today that they have a few of them but on a separate menu, which we never get. So, a hint to them for future guests - offer the menu!
P.s. we always have 'uštipci' with kajmak for starters and 80% of the time they are the best we both ever had. Other times they can be a bit greasy.
Still, one of the best restaurants in Makarska and a personal...
Read moreThe food was great. We ordered the shrimp tagliatelle pasta and a margarita pizza. The pasta was incredible and the pizza was good. Although the reason we rate it 2 stars is because the service was not good. We constantly felt harassed and rushed to order. We could not take our time to just think about what we wanted as the same waiter approached us 4 times in the matter of 5 minutes to ask if we were ready to order, despite us constantly saying please give us some more time.
While we were eating he approached us to ask if everything was okay, which was fine. But then he also had to do it again about 10 minutes later which was starting to really annoy us. He also then poured the rest of our drinks for us and took the bottles away, wasting some of our already overpriced drink as he did not pour it fully. Another reason it is rated 2 star is because the drinks are extremely overpriced.
Sadly we will not be returning again as the service was very poor but the...
