We had a dinner "Kod Barba Luke" and had an absolutely delightful experience, thanks in large part to our exceptional server, Marina. From the moment we sat down, Marina's extensive knowledge of the menu and wine list was evident. She offered spot-on recommendations that made our meal unforgettable. Her genuine enthusiasm and professionalism made us feel welcome and valued as guests.
The meal was nothing short of spectacular. We started with the dentex fish, which was flawlessly prepared—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and bursting with fresh, delicate flavors that truly showcased the quality of the fish. It was a culinary masterpiece that left us thoroughly impressed.
For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate brownie, and it was out of this world. Rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced, it was the ultimate sweet treat to end our meal on a high note. Read moreZ družino smo med dopustom na Hvaru obiskali restavracijo Kod Barba Luke. Prišli smo praktično ob odprtju in bili prvi gosti. Kljub temu, da nismo imeli rezervacije, nas je osebje, ki je bilo nadvse prijazno, lepo sprejelo in nam ponudilo na izbiro dve lokaciji prostih miz. Sam ambient restavracije je zelo lep, že na prvi pogled je bilo videti, da je vse lepo urejeno, čisto in pripravljeno za goste. Sedežne garniture so zelo udobne. Pogled na s terase restavracije mimo palm v zaliv z glavnega trga Starega grada in sonca je zelo lep. Ker je bil vročinski val, je za ohladitev terase poskrbel velik ventilator, ki je ohlajeval prostor. Kot sem omenil je strežno osebje zelo prijazno, sploh pa gospa, ki nas je stregla. Prijazno je predstavila meni, posebnosti restavracije, kaka so priporočila ter nam svetovala izbiri. Ko smo izbrali se je zelo potrudila, da nam je priporočila vinsko spremljavo. Izreden občutek za goste, tudi posebej za otroke, nas je zelo pozitivno presenetil. Že ob prihodu smo opazili, da ima restavracija priznanje Gault&Millau 2024 (dobili so jo tudi v 2023), kar je dalo takoj vedeti, da je tukaj kvaliteta doma. Vedeli smo takoj, da ne bomo razočarani. Za pozdrav iz kuhinje smo dobili domač puhast kruh in njihovo lastno olivno olje, ki je dobesedno razvnelo naše brbončice ter jih segrelo na pričakovano hrano. Za hladno predjed sva z ženo izbrala tartar iz kozic, ki je bil perfekten. Prvič sva ga poizkusila in je bil res odličen, skupaj z odličnim olivnim oljem, limono, maslom in popečenim kruhom je bil uvod v kosilo popoln. Poleg smo pili lahkotno zvrst Pošipa in Bogdanuše, ki je bil.zelo nežen. Hčerki sta izbrali domače raviole polnjene s sirom in zelišči na rdeče (s pasiranim paradižnikom) ter na se naribanim sirom, ki so se topili v ustih. Mimogrede, pašto, delajo v restavraciji sami. Z ženo sva naročila ribjo ploščo za dva, z dodatno zelenjavo z žara. Zelo nam je bilo všeč, ko je strežno osebje, pred nami sfiliralo ribe in pripravilo popolne krožnike. Med tem smo tudi poizkusili drugi izbor vina, ki je pasal k ribji plošči, to je bil pošip, karakterno vino. Ribja plošča je bila popolna, okusi prekrasni in polni, priloga blitva/krompir je bila res dobra. Tast je naročil klasiko, biftek s pomfrijem, ki je bil medium+ pečen. Strežno osebje nas je imelo vedno "na očesu" ter je redno prišla do mize, če kaj potrebujemo in ali je vse OK. Med izbiro hrane nam je natakarica povedala, da imajo odlične sladice, ki pa jih na koncu, ker smo bilo zelo siti, nismo mogli naročiti. Kljub temu nam je "na račun hiše" prinesla njihovi "paradni sladici" - brownie z vanilijevim sladledom in tortico divje pomaranče. Sladici sta bili popolni. Kljub temu, da smo bili vsi zelo siti, sta sladici zelo telo teknili in bi nam bilo res žal, da jih ne bi poizkusili. Med kosilom, smo tudi opazili, da je strežno osebje imelo res občutek za gosta ( k mizi so prinesli ribe v ledu na ogled, katere bi lahko pripravili). Na koncu smo bilo s celotno izkušnjo zelo zelo zadovoljni in navdušeni. Read moreI visited as a group of 8, and we had an amazing time. Some shared dishes and others had their own meals and both approaches worked well.
The fish soup is a great light starter. I shared the grilled seafood platter and this is so fresh, and having the squid, sea bass, sea bream, and prawns grilled on charcoal imparted a delicious flavour while still letting the freshness of the seafood shine through.
We also recommend their mussels, and their truffle pasta.
For dessert we shared an orange cake, and chocolate cake and both were perfect in taste and texture.
The service was friendly and knowledgeable. And very attentive when a few drops of rain started so helped to shift our table to get full umbrella protection.
We have to give a big shout out and thank you to Marina, our host. She grew up on Hvar and her passion for the island and its produce is evident.
