Pinetta — Restaurant in Grad Stari Grad

Borderline ok, but generally a very disappointing experience (aka terrible value for money).

I’ll start with the setting and it was very nice indeed. A very pleasant welcome and seating.

We took the fish soup to start with and it was really good. Those are the bright spots.

Generally, fish dishes seemed to be good. The problem was meat. We ordered a local meat dish and even though it was “local” and “traditional” it was quite obviously dry/over cooked. Now, maybe the tradition dictates it to be so, but then my issue is with the tradition :-)

The burgers was another huge disappointment since it was for kids. Basically, the meat appeared to come from a factory (processed) and was simply dumped into a bbq sauce. If your idea of a burger is to savor the sauce, then the place is for you. If you want to taste the burger - it was terrible and you are better off at McD I’d guess.

Worst of all was that when I mentioned the concern with the meat, I got a simple shrug of the shoulders and no deduction from the bill or some other accommodation. I decided not to make a scene. Such reactions just show what a place stands for: tourist milking rather than quality food. Thus, blacklisted.

Update to the above post in the middle of the night: my son got sick from the burger meat he ate. If I were not leaving Hvar early morning, I would confront the restaurant and make a big noise out of...

Out of all the restaurants I’ve been to ever. this has to be the best one. From the start, the service was exceptionally friendly, instantly giving me a sense of warmth and welcoming. We were offered free glasses of cherry brandy for each person on the table, which was absolutely delicious. This gave us a great impression of the restaurant already. The menu was great, with many Croatian dishes. What was absolutely amazing was that my sister (who’s birthday it was) ordered an aperol spritz which ended up being on the house. The dishes were absolutely delicious and of great quality, with generous portions which made it great to share. After ordering desert, my sister was given chocolate mousse and ice cream with a candle placed on top. What was great was the surprise of this, since we hadn’t ordered it. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Pinetta! We visited with two families, including several children, and the staff made us feel truly welcome from the very beginning. The service was exceptional – a special thank you to Vladimír and his helpful colleagues for creating such a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The food was outstanding. We especially loved the opportunity to taste a variety of fresh seafood dishes, each perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. It was a true culinary highlight of our sailing trip.

The restaurant’s unique setting in a charming alley of the old town only added to its special charm.
