Melting Spot — Restaurant in Grad Stari Grad

Most definitely the best specialty coffee shop I have been to in Croatia so far! I have a strong passion for coffee, and everywhere I go on holidays I try and look for the best places to get the best coffee. On my trip to Croatia with my friend, we went to Stari Grad as the first step to visit this the island of Hvar. The melting spots was our breakfast on our departure day, and I would definitely recommend this place for any traveler who likes, or doesn’t like coffee! Highly recommended for all coffee lovers! We came to the Melting spot almost every day during our vacation and we were very happy to find such a nice place. The coffee has always been excellent, and so is the granola. We also liked their croissants. The waiters are friendly, fast and professional, ready for advice and chat. Sometimes we lacked a place in the shade because we like to sit down for coffee, not take it away. We would be very happy if the coffee we drank was not 20% more expensive than the same coffee in Split and Hvar because we would drink it...

Unfortunately, Melting Spot no longer exists. The new café that took its place, called Tranquillo, may have inherited the same location, interior, and even the furniture, but it certainly didn’t inherit the quality. The coffee is nowhere near what Melting Spot used to offer, and the barista skills don’t compare either.

What’s even more frustrating is that Tranquillo appears to have taken over Melting Spot’s spot on Google Maps, which feels misleading - people searching for the original café might assume it’s still the...
