Four feels harsh, but it loses a star for one reason only, the sheer speed of the place.
Massively busy central location means they have many willing customers. The issue is that being one of the those customers, you always feel like you're being rushed out so they can fit the next one in, and that takes away massively from the enjoyment.
Cold appetiser sharer was tremendous, bottle of wine we picked was spot on (maybe sheer good luck on our side, but mid priced being that good bodes well for the rest of the wine list!), the monkfish with (freshly made) pasta and truffle was very tasty.
Just I was being asked if I wanted coffee before I'd finished my final mouthful of monkfish and the wine was finished.
Sat at an awkwardly positioned table inside the very large interior dining room (tables exist outside at the front and rear too), I felt like a cog in a money making machine rather than a man enjoying a lovely meal. And my meal really was lovely. It just sort of happened at 1.5x speed, which I sort of understand, but very much didn't enjoy. The rate they turned the tables around us was impressive, but also lends credence to my theory they operate some kind of "get them in, get them fed, get them out ASAP" policy!
Go here for good food. Don't go here for a leisurely relaxed dining experience where you feel like a guest rather than something to be processed through the high efficiency...
Read moreReturned to give them a try again. While at the table I was approached by a man who introduced himself as owner (Vinko) and sarcastically asked for a 1 star review again. Perhaps more emphasis on service improvement as many reviews state the same issues his focus is on being rude and unprofessional and not taking constructive criticism as an opportunity to get better. Our server was good so the service was improving but his unprofessional approach is dragging the rating of his place.
I’ve been coming to this place for the last 3 years, service and food were always great. Menu changed last year and a lot of staff changed this year, didn’t change for the better. Happened twice to me already where it took forever to get our order, someone else brings our food and we never saw the waiter again, needed more drinks, a desert, but he was nowhere to be found. Nobody ever came to check on us, I flagged first person I saw and asked for check, I was told that our waiters shift was over and he left. The thing is that the place was not that busy, no idea why it took 10-15 min to get our order. Read moreWe recently had a lovely meal here with the girls and overall, it was a positive experience with a few bumps along the way. We ordered seafood pasta, a seafood starter platter, and mussels in wine. The sauce for the mussels was particularly delicious and a real highlight. To drink, we had Prosecco, which was good, and Aperol, though the latter had a bit too much sparkling water for our taste.
The service from our waiter was fantastic—he was patient and attentive, especially when my friends needed extra time to decide on their orders. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but he really elevated our experience.
However, the receptionist left a lot to be desired. We didn’t have a reservation and instead of being helpful, she gave us mean looks and made no effort to assist us in finding a seat. Even after we settled on a table, she continued with the cold attitude. It was unnecessary and took away from an otherwise enjoyable evening.
Another small downside was the payment process. We wanted to pay with two different cards, not split the bill, just allocate different amounts, but they couldn’t process it that way, which was a bit frustrating.
Overall, we had a good time, but the unwelcoming attitude from the receptionist and the payment issue were the only real negatives...
