Yo Thai Asian Fusion — Restaurant in Ayia Napa

A very bad and disappointing experience. We pre-booked a table for 10 and even though we arrived on time (9 of us) and the restaurant was almost empty, the waiter was completely clueless about our reservation and was dragging tables and chairs to accomodate us whilst we were standing around. We could not communicate with staff as they could not speak Greek and barely spoke only broken English. The only Greek speaking staff member could not help with the menu very much (the menu does not come with descriptions) as she was a new member of staff (she told us this when we asked why there was no one to help with the menu). What little she did explain was completely wrong so that 2 of us that were told that a particular dish was with teryaki sauce, were given sweet and sour dishes that they weren’t very happy with. The sushi platter came with no soy sauce and after asking countless times they brought only one for so many people to share. There was a big mix up with the dishes so there was a lot of swapping around and this was mainly due to the language barrier. So the food was warm by the time we started eating. One of us (gluten intolerant) ordered a ‘Wok Chicken and Cashews’ expecting a healthy (gluten free) meal with minimal oil only to receive deep fried chicken nuggets in batter instead of chicken pieces lightly fried. When we queried this, they took it away and returned it later with the proper chicken. We asked several times for a bottle of water which came too late and the list goes on and on. Despite everything, we were very polite, ate, paid and left. Although we were very disappointed with the restaurant, the worse was yet to come. We contacted the restaurant the next day asking to speak to the manager to let them know what had happened as there was no manager there the day we went (as we preferred not to leave a bad review, maybe it was a one off). I left disappointed. This restaurant used to be top notch but not anymore. It's always been pricey compared to other restaurants but that was ok because the food was great. That is no longer the case, something has changed.

The starter was actually good - we shared a quarter duck. The main course however was disastrous. Thai Red Chicken Curry. The chicken was the horrible processed kind of chicken that makes you wonder what it is you're actually eating. The curry sauce was very thin, it seemed more like a gravy. Even the vegetables didn't taste great - there were aubergines in it that could be best described as tasteless mush. The rice was stodgy and was apparently made in a large batch at some point earlier in the day.

The gentleman, who appeared to be the head waiter, asked if we had enjoyed our meal. We politely explained that we were disappointed as the numerous times that we'd been previously, we had really enjoyed our meals. He became very defensive saying that they're still using the same chef and pretty much shrugged his shoulders and walked away.

This visit was a second chance visit, as my meal had been very average when I visited with my parents in 2022. My partner wasn't with me on that occasion and really wanted to go back so we went last week... Needless to say that we won't be going back again. Such a shame but it seems to me that they'd rather use cheaper produce to increase profit margins. This leaves a bitter taste when you think that you're paying for good...

We came there for a dinner with 1.5y baby and asked for a high chair. Then we got seated in the corner by probably their head waiter. But then had to wait long before they brought high chair for the baby and came to take our order. The order was taken by a young girl who was friendly and helpful, and then some other Asian woman was servicing our table and she was very slow, and also messed up the orders and brought not what we ordered, and run away so we had to call that other head waiter guy who checked what we ordered and then told they will bring what we ordered quickly and after two or so minutes that Asian waiter delivered what we ordered and we could eat. We loved the food, cause both pad thai and Mongolian beef were very delicious. After we finished eating and asked for a bill, we were probably forgotten again by that Asian waiter as we waited for half an hour and no one ever came to us in that time. So we stood up and went to pay near the exit as who knows how long we would of had to wait. Also when we were waiting we noticed how different they are serving locals and tourist.
