Our taxi driver told us that the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed and that he would take us to flames for similar food. I agreed as we had just arrived in ayia napa and we were famished.
This was by far the worst meal that we had during our entire stay in cyprus.
The salad looked old and wilted. The meat skewers were undercooked, tasted like pork that was going bad and tiny portions compared to everywhere else we went on our trip.
We ordered the taramosalata and it tasted like cod liver oil paste (pretty gross if you have ever had cod liver oil).
One of the owners would hover over us. I guess he was trying to be friendly but it came off as a bit creepy (im a guy but i can see a woman feeling uncomfortable).
We also ordered 2 Keo but i am pretty sure that they poured us some generic lager (aka not Keo). I drink a lot of beer and i know what a specific beer should taste like.
The 2 stars was for the service which was very good and the food (although inedible) came out in a timely...
Read morePro: The service was very good, kind and helpful. They playground was for 1-6. It's good that it has a closeable door. Desert lava cake was tasty.
Con: The main dish was a huge disappointment! It was fish plate (for two person). We were recommended to come here. I am sure the meats are good. But, though we were hungry, we could barely eat it. Simply it had no taste. No flavor, no spice. Like just put fish in a pan and just cook/fry. Just the fish without anything... The only flavor to recognize was bitter on some of the fish. And the squid was gummy. Both type they served. There was no sauce, we asked a tzatziki, which was sour, no garlic. The place next to it, the Old Village Tavern, huh, from Flames they should go there and check what is a tzatziki... There it is awesome.
And the icing on the cake, the pineapple juice was sour and bad...
The best of the meal was the hamburger for the child, which is a shame for a...
Read moreOctopus with fries and salad: some old and dry leftovers of tentacles with a powerful odour of vinegar, probably to mask the poor quality of the product; the same situation with the salad - full of vinegar and 50% onions; the fries were perfect, they nailed it! Vegetarian moussaka: This was, let's say, decent, but very plain, couldn't feel any kind of species and herbs (commonly used for moussaka. Mussels with rice and garlic butter sauce: the mussels were average prepared, dried and oily - again, to mask the fact that they were of poor quality; the rice - just plain rice; the garlic sauce with some kind of cheese and butter was interesting. However, the staff is ultra friendly and communicative, and they assist you in every way they can. Overall, it was a super lame experience considering there are beach bars and restaurants in the area with superior...
