Namare Sea food bar — Restaurant in Larnaca

I tried this place because of the favourable review. Don’t be misled. It’s awful. Cheap furniture, cheap decor, cheap fittings in the toilets, cheapo doors, cheap everything, and VERY average (at best) food, poor service. I was shocked that anyone would think this is ‘good’. In their defence, perhaps the people who gave this place a ‘good’ review are very inexperienced (this is, after all, a rather ‘low rent’ mass tourism beachfront) but this is a COUNTRY MILE away from a good fish restaurant, and no one could reasonably believe it such unless they had never been to one. I ordered hummus, a mixed salad, flat bread and garlic mussels with a glas of house white (not too bad). The hummus arrived with cheap white bread, toasted, and the flat bread that I insisted on took so long to come that the mussels were delivered before I could eat my starter. The garlic sauce served with the mussels had congealed by the time I had eaten my starter. The mixed salad was mediocre, at best. I had to ask for olive oil ‘it’s already on the salad’ I was told by the inept waitress; I asked for some, anyway. The cheap, watery olive oil (in a country producing fabulous olive oil!) that arrived is what you would expect in an cheap and indifferent restaurant. Which, to be fair, this is. Well, indifferent, at least. The manager (lord, I hope it wasn’t the owner) sat down at the table next to me with a noisy friend and they proceeded to get drunk on Chivas Regal (yes, it’s that type of place), at lunch time! The two of them cackling and laughing like idiots. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere....

This restaurant has a sneaky way of scamming tourists into a higher bill and choosing more expensive dishes from the menu. Outside, there's a menu/advertisement showing a price of €30 for a large dish meant for two people. The same information appears in the menu inside, stating €30 for a plate for two. However, once you choose this item, the waiter says it's unavailable and offers a dish that's nearly twice as expensive, claiming it's comparable to the one from the ad.

The dishes themselves are bland, extremely greasy, and you can really taste the low-quality oil that completely overpowers the flavor of the fish, squid, and octopus. A complete disappointment—I definitely don't recommend this place. I won’t be coming back.

Answer to owner's comment: It is a bunch of lies. I was there only with my wife. You must have mistaken me for someone else.....

We were very disappointed by our fish Meze on Sunday. It started off well with salad and dips, but the first fish we were served was a pile of pangasius in batter and were told it was cod. It was 100% pangasius. I would say half the rest of the fish was very good, the other half was not great, some of it was served cold. There was no octopus until we asked then we were served cuttlefish. After we complained they later brought a large souffle which was very salty. 2 of our guests had tuna steak which they said was good, but the seafood pasta was overcooked and the sauce was bland. The other 2 had a fish and meat meze, theirs was OK but the quality of the meat was poor.
