Esperanza Cóctel Y Cocina — Restaurant in Larnaca

Absolute disaster. I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a year since my last trip to Larnaca, but the experience was extremely disappointing. I am usually very objective and careful with my reviews, but this visit left no room for anything positive.

The staff were clearly trying, but they lacked professionalism. For example, we ordered a shrimp salad and a taco variety combo to share. Halfway through our salad—before our main dish had even arrived—a waiter came over to ask if we had finished so he could clear the table.

The food was simply terrible and bore no resemblance to authentic Mexican cuisine. The flavors were bland to the point of being embarrassing for a restaurant. The shrimp salad contained just five tiny shrimp, while the tacos made with supermarket soft shells were served cold, had no real flavor, and contained a ridiculously small amount of meat. Even worse, the shrimp in the tacos had been cut in half just to make it look like there was more.

To my surprise, they don’t even serve hard shell tacos—something I find astonishing at a so-called Mexican restaurant. The “variety combo” of eight supermarket-style tacos cost €38. Price is never the issue for me, as long as the food matches the description and quality promised, but this was simply unacceptable.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this establishment, and I must say, the service was outstanding! Two particular member of the team truly went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was memorable, the indian bar man and the beautiful and enchanted African waitress. From the moment I was seated, the attentiveness and warmth of the staff were evident. This exceptional waitress not only took my order with a friendly smile but also made thoughtful recommendations that enhanced my meal. Her knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm for the dishes made it clear that she is passionate about her work. Moreover, the bar staff complemented the dining experience perfectly. The bartender crafted delicious drinks that paired wonderfully with my meal, showcasing a true skill for mixology. The combination of attentive service and delicious offerings made for a fantastic evening. It’s clear that this establishment has valuable team members who contribute significantly to its success. We stopped at Esperanza for lunch on the off chance, because we had a bad experience with a popular restaurant close to them.. and we didnt regret it! The decor is wonderful and the staff are very good: Friendly, efficient and calm under fire.. We had a slight issue with the tacos being cold and they fixed the problem immediately and made our time there fantastic!

They have an amazing selection of tequilas, served exactly how I like to drink them, and the cocktails are very well made. Plus, the barman is very good looking which doesnt hurt 😅

I must confirm that the food is absolutely delicious, and my only critisism would be that for the prices, the fillings/portions are very small on the tacos and the burger was small. The potato fries were excellent and a better size. The nachos are a good size (we saw them served at another table,) so I cannot comment on other dishes.
