Balza — Restaurant in Nicosia

this rooftop bar was an absolute disaster. the staff couldn’t have been more uninterested if they tried. every time we asked them a question, whether it was about the menu, recommendations, or just to get their attention, they just stared at us with blank expressions. no response, no effort — just a complete lack of care. we literally had to wave them down multiple times just to get an acknowledgment, and even then, they looked at us like we were bothering them for daring to speak.

it wasn't just one person either — the entire staff seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else. when we asked for a simple request, like extra napkins or to clarify an order, they just stared, without saying a word, and walked away. nothing was ever resolved, and we ended up feeling ignored the entire time. the whole vibe felt off because of them, and honestly, it ruined the evening. i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless you enjoy being treated like you're invisible.

to make matters worse, when we asked to pay separately, the situation took a weird turn. instead of just handling the request, the guy with hair loss and round glasses decided to provocatively ask us where we were from. when we told him germany, he laughed at us, like it was some sort of joke. it felt incredibly rude and condescending, as if paying separately was an absurd request just because of where we’re from. the entire interaction left a bad taste in our mouths, and it was the last straw in an already terrible experience. i’ve never encountered such unprofessional and borderline disrespectful behavior from staff. definitely avoid this place if you expect any basic...

Second time we went to have a drink at Balza bar in Nicosia and again they said that the place is full…and the place was empty! But anyway it was so obvious that they didn’t let us in on purpose. I called 2’ before arriving to make a reservation and they said that they don’t make reservations for drinks and they advised me to pass by and will accommodate us. We went there, we asked a table for 2 and the host instead of checking the list for availability, he turned to ask the manager (who was sitting very close to the door) if there is availability. She replied no we are full. Without even discussing or trying in any way to accommodate us. Why the host needs to ask the manager if there is availability?…My husband asked the host the reason for not letting us in again, and he was trying to explain to us that the place is full of reservations and he advised us if we want we could come back at 21:00-21:30 to check again (btw it was almost 20:00), so we asked him what’s the point to come back in one hour, like seriously you cannot accommodate 2 people for drinks. My husband also expressed himself by saying how they made him feel, that they were racists towards to him and the host didn’t even apologise or try to make us change our mind about the whole experience (normal reaction of customer service). I’m not saying is host’s fault and I don’t know what is the bar’s policy but you know they are racists and also they have zero...

Our recent visit to Blaza Restaurant was a regrettable decision. Having had a terrible dining experience last year, we decided to give them another chance, hoping for improvement. Unfortunately, the second visit was just as disappointing as the first. Firstly, the food quality was awful. Dishes lacked any real flavor or freshness. It felt like corners were cut in every aspect of preparation, leaving us with meals that were unappetising and poorly executed. Despite trying different items from the menu on this visit, nothing stood out as remotely satisfying while having being backed up by the name of the restaurant Momeno mori.

Moreover, the pricing at Blaza is extremely high for what is offered. The portions are small, and the quality does not justify the high prices. It feels like you're paying for a premium dining experience but receiving subpar food that doesn't even meet basic expectations.

In summary, Blaza Restaurant has consistently failed to deliver on both food quality and value for money. After two disappointing visits, it's clear that this establishment is not worth the time or expense. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere.
