One of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. Definitely the worst I've eaten at in the last few years. When I saw a 3 course meal for €17.95, I thought "this must be too good to be true". Eating here was a powerful reminder to me that if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
After ordering, we had to wait 30 minutes for the starter. Prior to the starter arriving, the waiter gave us a basket of dry, unappealing bread that looked like it could've been plucked from any supermarket shelf. When my starter did arrive, it was covered in mayonnaise, it looked like the kind of meal a 15 year old would buy from any old cheap food shop after school. Visibly dissatisfied, I was then offered an alternative, to which I said yes, I applaud the staff for their service here. However, it was basically just some oily, overly salty mushrooms on a square plate. Simply pitiful.
After finishing our starters, we then had to wait 25 minutes for our mains. Other customers were also suffering the same plight. When my main arrive, it had school canteen level presentation, complemented by prison level taste (never been to prison but I imagine this is how bad the food would taste there). My main was a sirloin steak and chips.
The dessert arrived in much better time, it was simple, a pancake with some sugar. Nothing special.
Avoid this restaurant at all costs! I wasted money here. Worst thing of all was that the lead waiter sweated so profusely that the sweat was dripping off his head! Absolutely disgusting! I prayed that he wouldn't serve our food, unfortunately he...
Read moreMy wife said I had to write this review as I wrote a bad one for another restaurant in Paphos, so here goes.
This restaurant is just off the main strip area of Paphos but a real gem of a place. The owner is attentive and pleasant and the staff are really helpful. The restaurant is busy every night and worth booking as you may not get a table. The atmosphere is really good.
Starters we ordered Hummus, garlic mushrooms and dolmades. All really tasty and plenty of it.
Mains: They have good vegan options and my wife had the aubergine. I had the stifado which was absolutely fantastic and restored my faith in this dish (see my other review). Good portion sizes and very tasty food. We had carafe and half of red and was given free brandy at the end. Highly...
Read moreA true gem in Paphos – Argo Taverna If you’re visiting Paphos and looking for a truly traditional dining experience, Argo Taverna is an absolute must. The food was simply delightful – fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully prepared.
The service was just as impressive: friendly, genuine, and welcoming without being overbearing. You can tell the staff truly care about their guests and are proud of what they offer. It’s this combination of authentic service and outstanding food that makes Argo stand out.
It’s the best traditional place we’ve eaten at in Paphos – a place you’ll want to return to again and again. We had Stifado, The Ribs, Calamari and Octopus, with sweet ending of baklava and pancakes. A...
