Delicious grilled food
First time at this tavern even though we have visited the island for many years. This is a small restaurant run by dad on the grill and kitchen and his son, front of house, it’s described as a charcoal grill restaurant.
On a mid week day it was a little quiet with a number of local diners, we where the only tourists. If it’s good enough for the local’s it’s good enough for us. Typical Cypriot taverna inside, greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome.
Looking forward to a meal of grilled meats and was not disappointed. They have a short menu of grilled meats, starters of dips and accompaniments that you can make into a Meze if you wish. We started with grilled mushrooms, lightly grilled sprinkled with parsley served with their natural juices, just good.
Our mains of mixed kebab of Pork souvlaki with sheftalia and my mixed grill where totally delicious. My wife could not finish the mixed kebabs it was so big, it was served with village salad and chips. My mixed grill of pork fillet, lamb chop, sausage, souvlakia, Sheftalia, halloumi served with village salad (including feta) and delicious homemade chips. A ltr carafe of house wine (€11 and best house wine we have had), large bottle of water and complimentary paphos pita...
Read moreFood was not just good; it was fresh, tasteful and filling. Delicious all around. We didn't even wait 15mins before the food arrived. Great job to the chef.
Service was warm and friendly, smiles and politeness made the experience that much better. I must add, though a small detail; we were asked if we drink alcohol before being offered any. That kind of considerate behavior is not so easy to come by.
Atmosphere felt authentic. Not another try-hard place trying to push the local experience down your throat and smothering you. Folk music playing at a pleasant, conversational level from the speakers and the decor is very fitting. I didn't feel like "just another tourist" being sold the Paphos/Cypress experience.
Not to mention, for a filling dinner for 2, we ended paying less than 40€. Super affordable for the overall quality.
A wonderful dinner...
Read moreI visited this place on the 22nd of April on Monday with my wife. The food was pretty bad except the salad. We ordered a big meat plate, rose vine and salad. The meat was a mix of meat/sausage leftowers from the day in the big meat plate, which tasted badly. 50 euro total.
The dishes, forks, glasses, and tables were dirty. The waiter was sick and coughed all the time. He didn't wear gloves or wash his hands. He touched his nose and then brought us the food, plates, and glasses by holding them with bare fingers in the place from where you eat.
2 days after we found in the airport emergency that we have COVID-19. My wife got symptoms on the second day.
PLEASE DON'T go there if you dont want to spoil your holiday and get sick with COVID. The waiter and owner seemed nice and friendly, but it isn't worth it when you get sick with such a...
