Ocean Basket Paphos — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

Over a week ago me and my partner dined here. If I could give a 0 I really would. On arrival we were given our menus to take upstairs which I thought was strange as it’s usually the waiter who sits you down and brings you the menu. There was a lot of food choice and took a while to decide. Our drinks order was taken but took a while to arrive. Once we decided what we wanted it took even longer to get a waiters attention to take our food order. We ordered tiny little fish starter which wasn’t hot enough. When our food order finally arrived it was NOT HOT at all. The rice wasn’t even warm the so called fresh fish was just awful and not hot. All I could think was that if I eat all of this, I’m really going to get an upset stomach. We did eat a bit but we were not satisfied to eat poor food. The fish isn’t fresh fish. So if you’re looking for authentic fresh fish this isn’t the place. I called the waiter over and told him our food is not hot. Without hesitating he said he would get us new food. The food was taken away and then it took about 20-25 mins to bring us our dinner again. The second time it was warm but some bits were still not hot enough. It was the worst food we ate on our holiday. I didn’t eat all my rice but my partner did.

Moral of the story is, my partner woke up at 1 in the morning throwing up continuously. We think it could be a mixture of the food not being cooked right and also the rice.

To be honest I thought of going back to the restaurant and telling them but, nothing would change. I’ve heard so many bad experiences now from family in Cyprus that I wish I knew about before I went. Ocean basket is like a fast fish food chain but with very poor food and service.

I was yesterday with my husband and our 3 kids to eat, the food was absolutely perfect and delicious. Hands down to the chef and the helpers. We had the shrimps with futomaki sushi,of course very generous portions. The thing is the only sushi I love it's the fried one and when we went last time, a waitress from there told me that I can have it only if I take the Fusion Crunch Platter but yesterday our lovely waitress Christina helped me choose the sushi that I love without being necessary to order a big platter only for me and the kids. She was so kind and lovely and so sweet especially when our baby (1 year old) started to throw the french fries and the plastic plate on the floor. She didn't even let me to pour the water in our glasses. She made sure that we are perfectly served and even let the kids to stay at a separate table but perfectly near us so we can have more room with all the food and drinks. Dear manager if you read this don't ever let her go,you have a professional waitress that is also very kind and sweet and it's difficult to find this. Christina if you will read this I want to thank for your patience with us and that you made my day yesterday and to tell you that I didn't want to write a review without knowing your name,the only thing I knew it was that you are from Hungary so I called the restaurant and asked them for your name. The location and position of the resturant is amazing. Not only do they have the building but 2 outside units, absolutely lovely. The inside of the building is furnished very tastefully and with a good choice of tables and chairs. We were greeted by the host who was very nice, pleasant and chatty. We were looked after by George who was excellent though not always available when you wanted him due to demand. He will be an absoulute asset to the resturant as he is not afraid to engage with customers and has a professional manor. It was only the 2 nd day of opening so we accept that there would be things that need ironing out. The food was excellent as always has been at Ocean Basket. We had cod and chips and platter for one. There were only two issues for us which could of made things better and that was that I wasn’t asked if I wanted any sauces and by the time I could get the attention of someone I had half eaten, so this needs addressing upon delivery of food. Secondly the food could have been hotter. This is obviously due to the kitchen being down stairs and so the time it takes to bring it upstairs in the lift, then have it brought to the table means it’s getting cooler on its journey. Only due to these hiccups have I given 4 instead of 5 stars. Excellent place with great food...
