I wanted to get the platter with the lobster along with a friend of mine. The waiter told us that the lobster is frozen and that he recommends the Akamas platter. So we got that. The calamari was tooooooo oily, the clutterfish chewey, the octopus I could barely cut it. I would bet all my money that everything was frozen. I told the same waiter that recommended me the Akamas platter about all this and he said that the octopus is something that more customers have a problem with, he told the chef and the chef said they would fix it but they didnt. He excused the octopus being hard to cut by saying that it is because of it being cooked on the grill. I then asked if they could report this to the manager and he laughed ironically saying that there is no manager. They offered us free drinks, but considering the fact that I started having a stomachache, along with the ignorance in taking action from the staff members regarding the matter we didnt accept. The rest people of our group had pork chops and sea bream and were also not satisfied, but didn't say anything as they were too hungry. We asked for the bill. We then got the bill and no discounts were made regarding the platter despite the fact that we didnt eat the platter at all due to the issues. I went inside to complain. The awesome PR guy called the owner in front of me. I wont say anything else apart from the owner trying to check whether we ate the food or not along with other excuses.. so that she would force us to pay. In the meantime I was looking around, waiting patiently. There were ants walking on the bar and on pillars next to the bar and dirt on the counters of the bar. I dont want to know how the kitchen is really! Finally, we waited about 15 minutes in order to pay by card.
As a Cypriot I have eaten fish to a lot of places and this is the last place I would recommend. I really hope you checked the reviews before you went to the restaurant, or at least before you ordered. And to comment on other reviews I have seen for this restaurant, Cypriot food is amazing, but this place is just horrible. If they tell you that you wont find any better than this in Cyprus, they are...

Nestled along the picturesque Paphos Harbour, the Pelican Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Mediterranean cuisine. During my recent visit, I was greeted by friendly staff and a warm ambiance, making it an inviting spot to relax and enjoy a meal.
Atmosphere: The restaurant boasts a charming seaside terrace, perfect for enjoying the view of the sparkling Mediterranean waters while basking in the gentle breeze. The interiors are tastefully decorated, blending traditional Cypriot elements with a modern touch. Whether you opt for a cozy indoor table or a spot outside, the setting is both vibrant and relaxing.
Service: The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations on both food and wine pairings. The staff's genuine friendliness added to the overall inviting atmosphere, making us feel right at home.
Food: The menu features a variety of delectable dishes, highlighting the fresh seafood that the region is known for. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. For the main course, I opted for the grilled seabass, which was seasoned to perfection and served with a side of seasonal vegetables. Each bite was a testament to the freshness of the ingredients.
The dessert selection was equally impressive. We chose the traditional baklava, which was rich and sweet without being overwhelming, a perfect finale to our meal.
Value: Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and the prime location. The portions are generous, ensuring that you feel satisfied without breaking the bank.
Overall: Pelican Restaurant is a gem in Paphos, ideal for families, couples, or anyone looking to indulge in authentic Cypriot flavors. I left feeling full and content, with the sounds of the sea and the warm evening breeze marking a perfect end to the day. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area—it's truly a dining experience not to be...
Read moreI visited the Pelican restaurant in Paphos Harbour, and while it offered a unique experience, there were a few aspects that left me with mixed feelings.
The biggest attraction at Pelican is, well, the pelican itself. This magnificent bird adds an element of wonder and fascination to the dining experience, making it a memorable and Instagram-worthy spot. Watching the pelican roam around the restaurant definitely added a touch of novelty to the ambiance.
When it comes to the food, however, I found that Theos, another restaurant in the vicinity, offered a more satisfying culinary experience. Theos excelled in delivering delicious dishes that tantalized my taste buds, leaving me craving for more. So, if you're primarily seeking a memorable dining experience, I would suggest considering Theos instead.
Unfortunately, my visit to Pelican was a disappointing encounter with Marinos. As a local, I had high expectations of securing a table with stunning views. However, Marinos tricked me by claiming that all the tables with scenic views were reserved, when it was evident that they were not.
Despite these setbacks, I will say that Pelican is still a decent spot for grabbing a drink and enjoying some light bites. The ambiance is lively, and the presence of the pelican adds a unique charm. If you're looking for a casual outing where you can relax with a beverage and soak in the surroundings, Pelican can provide a pleasant experience.
In conclusion, while Pelican offers a memorable encounter with its resident pelican and serves as a suitable place for drinks and light bites, I would recommend exploring other dining options like Theos for a more satisfying culinary experience. Just be aware of any potential tricks when dealing with Marinos, and manage your expectations...
