I don't really like giving low scores, but we went to this restaurant specifically because it had such a high review score on Google. A score, I think, is inaccurate.
Starting with food taste, it was fine. Just fine, I feel like it misses the core of Vietnamese cuisine, as it tasted differently to what we are used to. Some dishes were extremely bland, and the other had too much going on. The spring rolls were great though.
The meals don't have the spiciness indicators - and that's deadly in Asian restaurants. They have a lot of options (with pictures too!), but still, there is a bit of a problem with actually knowing what you're ordering. Other reviews are showing pictures of normal full courses - you know - meat, rice, side salads etc. However, out of three meals we ordered, only one arrived like this. On the menu, they all looked the same, and even were the same price. It wasn't a big deal, we ordered the rest, but it's a bit weird to get only (what it feels like) ⅓ of your meal.
You might say "oh, you could have just asked while ordering!". No, I couldn't, unfortunately. The waiter didn't speak English well - or at all maybe. I ordered by pointing on the menu - and it worked well, so no problems here! I know... it's unfair to expect everyone to speak English fluently, but I really needed to know if a drink on the menu contained alcohol (car). What pissed me off a little was that the waiter just shrugged and pointed with his pen to the menu. I could have read the menu just fine and was asking about something that was not included there - after the third time asking, I just gave up. Good luck asking for allergens, guys
Price wise - it's on a bit expensive side. Others might not agree, but Paphos is a tourist location, so there are reviews from different countries that earn different amounts. Prices start around 13€, which is a standard for all the restaurants near the Harbour. However, this location is a bit further away and not in a pristine location. Honestly, I say it was expensive just because we found other (this time Chinesse) place that charges 9€ tops - and it was 100x better and not traumatic...
Read moreThis evening my family decided to try Vietnamese - a new experience for us. I ordered the Chicken pho ga. The broth and noodles were really tasty. The veg, limited and underwhelming. But the chicken was inedible - I could not get my teeth through it, it resembled cardboard/rubber. Obviously had been frozen for the purpose of soups etc and had turned to rubber in the process of being 'brought back to life' for my meal. I am sad and disappointed (not to mention €13 out of pocket for a meal i could not eat - essentially only broth and noodles), and now I feel unable to order from Saigon Vietnamese Food again or recommend to friends or clients. I NEVER comment on sites - I do give credit where credit is due always. But this is the worst chicken I have received from a restaurant in the 17 years I have lived here in Cyprus....including overcooked BBQ chicken from a local taverna 🙄😂!! So sorry to bring bad news, but felt too strongly and disappointed not...
Read moreWe recently visited a Vietnamese restaurant with the whole family. We were satisfied with both the service and the quality of the food.
The service was top-notch: the staff was polite, attentive, and ready to help with the choice of dishes. 🍲
And now for the most important part - the food! I tried pho bo - this hot, fragrant soup with thin slices of meat, rice noodles, and greens just melted in my mouth. I also can't help but mention the shrimp rolls with fresh vegetables, served with the most delicate sauce - it was a real culinary delight! 🍤
In general, if you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Vietnam and enjoy truly delicious and authentic cuisine, then this restaurant is the perfect choice. I'm looking forward to visiting this wonderful...
