I usually take walks along the coast in the mornings and evenings to get my steps in. A few times, I passed by Τα Μπάνια in the evening and thought it looked like a really nice place. It always seemed lively, with many people dining and enjoying themselves, which made me think that it might actually be a good spot with decent food. I even checked the menu outside and considered stopping by sometime since it was conveniently on my route.

This morning, around 8 AM, I happened to be walking past and thought it would be a great opportunity to grab a coffee to go. The restaurant wasn’t busy – after all, it was still early. A few people were having breakfast inside, and one man was sitting outside enjoying his coffee.

I sat down for a moment, planning to wait for my coffee. A waitress approached, grabbed a menu, and was about to take my order. But as soon as I told her I only wanted a coffee, she immediately told me that I wasn’t allowed to sit there. Excuse me, what? Was I taking someone else’s seat? The place was practically empty! I was going to leave right after getting my coffee anyway. Were those few minutes really such a big deal? That kind of treatment is just plain rude and unacceptable.

So, like an idiot, I had to go inside, stand at the bar – because she instructed me to – and wait there for my order. What kind of absurd policy is that?

I was honestly humiliated, frustrated, and left feeling terrible. It took me a good half-hour to shake off those negative emotions. Booked a table for dinner, arrived ten minutes early and had ordered our food by 8pm. Waited 40 minutes to then notice our original waiter being spoken to in an urgent manner by someone (we assume the manager) who was gesturing at our table and saying "check it" a lot. After a few minutes our waiter comes back over saying there had been a fault with the system and he had to take our order again. Not great but okay. We ask for our order to be put through quickly. Twenty minutes later and we've both long finished our drinks and the bottle of water we'd ordered originally. No one has come to take another drinks order and food still nowhere to be seen. It's now 9pm and the (we assume) manager comes over and says he's very sorry and our food is two minutes away. Doesn't take a drinks order from us and we're getting quite annoyed by now as we're seeing people who sat down AFTER we were told about the order issue being served their food. He tells us that after dinner any dessert or coffee is on them, we tell him we aren't interested in pudding we just want our dinner. Ten past 9 and our original waiter comes over to say our food is 1 minute away. Still not asking us if we'd like any more drinks, despite our glasses being empty for atleast the last half an hour. 9:15pm and we give up, tables all around us are being served food and we feel as though we are being entirely ignored and avoided.
