I recently dined at El Chico in Protaras, and while my experience was pleasant, I found myself wishing for that 'wow' factor. Food: The menu offered a variety of options, and while the food was acceptable, it didn't leave me with a lasting impression. The flavors were decent, but there wasn’t anything that made the dishes stand out. Drinks: The drink selection was okay, nothing too exciting. It used to be an excellent place to visit in the heart of protaras. My last visit though left me with not such a good impression. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely as always, the kindness and politeness of the staff was high quality, BUT the quality of the food changed a lot. While it looked great, the taste wasn't what I previously experienced. The fahitas with vegetables should be renamed to fahitas with onion and some scattered vegetables, the burrito shrinked in size and the beef was not cooked well. The French fries had an old oil taste and smell. The deserts were surely overpriced while the taste mediocre. Tasty food, nice atmosphere set back just off the main strip, had nice Mexican theming outside and in enjoyed the setting away from the noisy road! We had Nachos to share and Beef Chimichanga, it was delicious big portions!!
