Corallo — Restaurant in Peyia

This was our second visit to this restaurant, however with both being particularly poor the main premise of this review will surround our second experience. We will also highlight the limited positives of the first visit.

To begin do not order squash as 3 pints of lemon squash diluted with tap water amounted to €13.50.

Secondly we would concur with previous reviews that some of the staff were ignorant to our knowledge of local cuisine. A good example is when we asked if the kleftico came with bones, we were told that yes it comes with a single bone; leading to my partner picking at least five big bones out of his meal much to our dissatisfaction.

In addition to the point of the staff ignorance/rudeness, after telling my partner he would be silly to not order the lamb because of “one bone”. Before I could complete my order the waitress abruptly took our menus and walked off, giving the impression she didn’t care much to complete the fundamental premise of her employment; to cater to customers.

The timing of the meal was atrocious. When we entered there were up to four other groups of no more than four in the restaurant. We thought we would be served quickly as it was not busy, however it took over 45 minutes before we were served.

The quality of the food was at best mediocre, although due to the waitress misleading and patronising my partner into ordering a meal filled with bones this obviously impacts the quality of our experience. The waitress also told me that a T-bone steak was unavailable across Cyprus, however since our visit I have been to two restaurants in 24 hours, both of which serve T-bone. Subsequently, as the steak I wanted was unavailable I was served a different one, which as previously stated was mediocre, without exaggeration the ones I cook at home would blow the owners of this place away, if that’s the best they offer.

Finally the limited positive of our first visit was that the other waitress was pleasant polite and enjoyable to converse with.

Overall avoid this restaurant, you’d get more satisfaction from the McDonalds...

So.. came here for dinner with my husband and 2 children after a tiring 24 hours with a cancelled flight. The service wasn't great from the get go, we had to wait a while to be served. Anyway starters and drinks came, all very nice. Whilst waiting for mains i noticed a couple get up and leave as nobody came to serve them. Mains came and my husband ordered the grilled octopus and I ordered the lamb chops. The chops were nice but the veg was bland. My husband's octopus was awful. Mushy and really not nice. Clearly defrosted and boiled. During the meal a waitress came and asked if we were okay and I said yes as we wanted to eat and go as quickly as possible due to our little ones being exhausted. Once they came to clear the table that I had started to clear myself due to waiting, I explained the octopus was not good and Mushy. They nodded and came back with the bill, no apology or discount. I queried this and was told we ate it and should have complained earlier. (To note, we didnt eat it we both had a bite each and left the rest, but apparently we ate most of it. They were laughable) Because we waited there is nothing they could do. I disagreed with this and explained we wanted to get back to the hotel for our children so he didn't want to wait for another main meal. They refused to remove any money off the bill, I even asked to take 8 euros off for the drinks as a gesture of good will but they refused and said I would have to ring the police. They argued that they were not providing a bad service or being rude and turned away when I asked if the lady I was speaking to was the manager. I ended up paying in full and leaving as I just wanted to get my children to bed. What a Disgusting service for a bog standard meal. Wouldn't go again or even recommend to my dog! No level of care of customer service/empathy....

We visited here on 24th Dec 18, the food and service we're so excellent, we couldn't fault either. We then also visited tonight 28th Dec 18 and it couldn't have been worse. My Husband ordered the exact same dish (Large pork chop from the grill) and was so disappointed, the first visit was cooked well and was large enough to fill him up. Tonight's was well over cooked and smaller. My dinner (Beef stroganoff) was also well over cooked, i ate about 3 forkfulls! We waited over 45 mins for our meal, we didn't even get a bread basket when the other tables had one. When I asked why this was, I was told 'we usually cater for around 20 people, tonight we have 100 show up, we run out of bread and we had to go next door for salad too'. When I dared to complain about the cold, overdue and over cooked food, the chef screwed up our receipt, threw it on the table and told us to get out. We tried to pay something as we'd had drinks but he just spat at us to get out. We tried to give the waiter some money but he told us to just leave. I find it hard to recommend a restaurant where the chef behaved like this but it's a shame as the first meal was excellent from...
