Bango Brno — Restaurant in okres Brno-město

I was here twice (once in the morning, once in the evening), and I have opinions.

The bad: The music is very loud (at least where we were seated both times, at the entrance), to the point we had to raise our voices to be able to talk. The music is not only loud, but also totally unrelated in feeling to the atmosphere of the establishment (although to be fair, this point seems to be problematic for most Brno restaurants/bars, as I rarely feel like it was smartly chosen). The first time some angry rap music was playing, the second time it was rock. Judging by the beautiful Instagram page and by the actual place when we came in, I'd expect some LoFi, or maybe chill piano. A dissonance like this is very capable of ruining an otherwise good first impression, unfortunately. I'm sorry to say, but I agree with some reviewers claiming the price doesn't always align with the quality. The fluffy pancakes we chose in the morning were all burned on both sides, to the point that not even the maple syrup could cover the taste. My friend lived in Japan and tasted "the real thing". She assured me that the pancakes are supposed to hold shape without being burned to stiffness. The ramen I had in the evening (meat version) was HUGE, to the point that it felt like a waste, since I couldn't finish it (and I'm a big girl, I can handle a large portion). I would rather the portion was smaller and cheaper. We were interestingly enough seated at exactly the same table both times, and I unfortunately noticed that the table had a sticky surface at exactly the same place both times. The second time I also got a slightly dirty fork (a napkin was enough to fix it, but still). I would appreciate better attention to cleanliness, especially at this price range. These four main points lead me to remove 2 stars from the overall rating.

And now, the good, to finish on a positive note: The design is very pleasant, especially near the windows on a sunny day. You see the green trees outside, drink a warm drink, and you're immediately happy. The food offering is very interesting! You get lost in all the options, which all sound delicious and fun. I love it when restaurants actually make food that you CAN'T make at home yourself, something a little extra which requires ingredients you don't normally have in your average kitchen. I especially enjoyed the mochi waffle, I LOVE interesting textures and this dish delivered! Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy inside. Just remembering it makes me hungry again. I'll be back for this one for sure. I also enjoyed the taiyaki, although my friend noted that she would like to try it with the cherries inside being warm. The drinks are great! A little small maybe, but I'll tolerate it for this quality. I especially enjoyed the calpis lemonade, which is refreshing and fun. I can promise you I'l be drinking this all summer. I can also compliment the boba coffee, the interesting texture makes a big difference. My friend enjoyed the evening cocktails and the matcha latte, which was so far the best we've had in Brno.

In conclusion, I'd like to say that my harsh review comes with a lot of love. I can see this lovely new Brno addition growing and becoming a beloved location for both young and old, with some changes. I'm not one to often complain about prices, but in this case, some improvements need to be made to justify the price tag. I wish Bango good luck...

Well, I don't want to be the first to lower the bar, but I'll leave my honest opinion. I'll start with the positive: Thanks to the beautiful instagram, I ate with my own eyes. Interesting interior, modern style and many unique details. Good service. Unusual dishes Cons: 1.I rated the service at 4, since we chose the dish for a long time, and as a result, the waitress came and said that half of the positions are out of stock. I would recommend talking about this from the beginning, or pointing it out somewhere on the stand. Based on the previous one - you may not get what you want, since it simply will not be available. (Sad, considering the small number of main courses). We have 2 main dishes to choose from. Food and cost ratio. Of course, this is more to the subjective, everyone has a different taste. To me, it's too expensive for this. I'm not talking about the ingredients, maybe they are worth it, but the taste did not justify the cost. (I can be wrong in the names 3.1 Ordered sandwich Sando 5/9 Delicious meat, which unfortunately completely interrupts bread. Very greasy, without an unforgettable aftertaste. I did not like the combination of products, individually everything is fine. Just stuffing your stomach will do. 3.2 Dampings with beef 4/9 Without such a price, it could be higher. But in fact, just 5 dumplings with cabbage and mayonnaise. Didn't feel anything special. There were no umami, sparks, or attractions. 3.3 tapioca coffee Tapiioka is very tasty, but the drink is insanely sweet, it was hard for me personally to recognize the textures and tastes behind such a mountain of sugar. Gently, creamy, coffee is not felt.

In general, this seems to be everything. In any case, if you want variety, you can go. I would most likely prefer other places. I hope my review was helpful, have a nice...

S kamarády jsme se domluvili, že vyzkoušíme Bango a udělali jsme si na večer rezervaci několik dní dopředu. V den rezervace nám přišla sms, že je rezervace zrušena. Snažili jsme se několikrát do restaurace zavolat a zjistit, jestli by šlo přijít jiný čas, ale nikdo nezvedal telefon. Napsali jsme na instagramu a ani po několika týdnech žádná odpověď.

Řekli jsme si, že se nenecháme odradit a o několik dní později jsme udělali online rezervaci. Všechno proběhlo v pořádku. O víkendu jsme tedy naběhli s kamarády do restaurace na večeři. Prostory dobře známe, protože jsme často chodili do restaurace, která zde byla v minulosti (Botanic).

Na interiéru se moc nezměnilo, ale to mi přijde v pohodě, i když jsem čekal japonský vibe. Lehce negativně vnímám, že na celou restauraci je jedno místo na kabáty, které bylo plně obsazené a nebylo kam si dát kabát. Dále hodnotím negativně, že stoly v Botanicu měly přilepený QR kód od Qerka. V Bango se asi rozhodli, že nebudou vyhazovat staré stoly z Botanicu, ale zároveň se jim nepodařilo ty QR nálepky dát dolů, tak byly přelepené papírovou páskou a vypadalo to celé dost nevkusně. Prominul bych to u cenově levnějších podniků, ale u když míříme na částku 600 kč za osobu, tak už bych čekal vyšší standard (viz dále).

Po usazení k nám rychle přišla servírka s lístkama. Milá, všechno super. Oznámila nám, že tahle restaurace má koncept, že jídla jsou menší a že se čeká, že si každý vezme 2 jídla a bude se to více sharovat mezi lidma. To mi přišlo jako zajímavý koncept a těšil jsem se, až to zkusím. Jídel na lístku nebylo moc, což mi vyhovuje. Manželka je těhotná, takže jsme některé jídla museli vyřadit (např. tatarák kvůli syrovému masu).

Cenově jsou jídla 200-250 kč + příloha 70 kč. My jsme si nakonec vzali kachnu na plátky, něco jako vepřové gyozy a něco jako kuřecí stehenní řízek + 2 přílohy. Naši kamarádi měli to stejné, akorát místo gyozy si dali tuňákový tatarák. Při objednávání nás servírka několikrát varovalo, že toho asi bude málo, že bychom si měli objednat více přílohy a více jídla, ale říkali jsme si, že když toho bude málo, tak si doobjednáme.

Na jídlo jsme čekali tak 45 minut, což už mi přišlo docela hodně. Obecně bych čekal, že budeme upozorněni obsluhou dopředu na čekání větší než 20 minut. V té době jsme si říkali, že pokud by toho jídla bylo málo, tak už si doobjednávat nic nebudeme, protože bychom na to asi zas čekali 45 minut.

Při čekání jsme si doobjednávali druhou várku pití a obsluha na jedno pití zapomněla a museli jsme se připomínat. To se může stát a nevidím to nějak tragicky. Naše překvapení ale přišlo, když nám jídlo donesli. Kachna byla polosyrová, což byl pro nás problém, protože manželka syrové nemůže jíst a gyozy moc nemusí, takže měla prakticky jen jedno jídlo. Tady bych opět čekal, že obsluha upozorní, že jídlo bude syrové. Zvlášť u kachny mi to přijde docela rizikové to takhle dělat a ne každému to vyhovuje. Buď bych to uvedl v menu, nechal obsluhu na to lidi upozorňovat nebo měl aspoň fotky jídel v menu.

Chuťově jídlo bylo moc dobré. A všeho mi přišlo, že bylo dostatek. Kdybychom si objednali ještě jedno extra jídlo a 2 další přílohy (jak bylo doporučováno obsluhou), tak bychom to pravděpodobně nesnědli.

Během jídla se kamarádce neudělalo z kachny dobře a musela běžet na záchod, ale odůvodnila to tak, že asi špatně požvýkala větší kus kachny. To však mělo dohru další den, kdy nám kamarádka říkala, že ve 2 ráno se vzbudila a 100x zvracela. Pak celý den měla teplotu, zvracení a obecně symptomy otravy jídlem. Pravděpodobně to byl buď tatarák nebo spíše ta syrová kachna. Já jsem byl v pohodě, ale jsem docela zvyklý jíst syrové hovězí, tak možná je můj mikrobiom na syrové maso lépe připravený nebo jsem měl kus kachny, která byla v pořádku.

Závěrem bych řekl, že jídlo dobré, ale určitě bych zlepšil informace o jídlech (např. že se jedná o syrovou kachnu). Prostory mi přišly příjemné pro restauraci typu Botanic, kde člověk nechal za večeři 250-300 kč. Když už jsme v cenové kategorii 500-600 kč, tak bych čekal víc (ne přelepené...
