Disappointing Experience – Not What You’d Expect from a Czech Beer Bar This place was a big letdown. Only one draft beer on tap – come on, that’s hardly what you'd expect from a Czech beer bar. No variety, no character.

The food was truly awful. We asked the waitress for a recommendation, and she said “everything is good” – what an irony. We tried the beer mezze, soup, and a main course, and none of it was even close to edible. The main dish was overwhelmed by BBQ sauce and salt, the appetizer was just meat soaked in vinegar – a total miss – and the goulash had no flavor at all. The chips were okay, but that’s hardly worth mentioning.

We got here by recommendation of our landlord. Easy reachable by street car. Very rustic and authentic restaurant. Very frequented by locals, always a good sign. On entering, we were greeted by an enthusiastic server, who immediately identified us as tourists and switched to fluent English. Got a nice corner table and menus at once. The ordered beer mugs arrived a split second after. The dishes we ordered are all traditional Czech cuisine, and they arrived before we where able to empty half of our first beers. Awful. The establishment encourages to leave you a review so here it is: they prey on tourists and hide behind language barriers. They secrete a cover charge per person eating (50) in a not very obvious part of the menu, which we only noticed after we had ordered. The real slap in the face was forcing us to pay a 10% tip on top of our bills - despite the receipt very clearly saying the tip was not compulsory, when we politely tried to opt out (seeing as we had already paid for the “pleasure” of being at the establishment), a women who I assume was the manager appeared to tell our waiter he was not allowed to remove it.
