Roku Izakaya - Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Aalborg Municipality

Disappointed. Izakaya, but doesn't have an alcohol license yet, so why not wait and open the restaurant later? Or remove the drinks from the menu card or put a disclaimer on your site? Just lazy practice.

Waiting times for the food was barely acceptable, and more than once, we waited at least 30 minutes, which made me think the order wasn't coming. Luckily, we had 3 hours, but when the sushi finally arrived, there were orders missing.

The starters were all good, especially the karage and the shrimp, but limited choices.

The sashimi tasted fishy, as if it had gone bad. It had been marinated with some almost tasteless sauce, and it was very clearly not the same fish used for the nigiri.

Maybe they thought it would be easy to mask the bad fish in the sashimi as it is marinated, but too bad their marinade was so weak.

The regular sushi was below average, but not bad. The fish on the nigiri was fresh, but the pieces got smaller and smaller as the evening went.

Overall, not horrific and not bad for 190kr and 3 hours, but if the sushi takes 30-40 minutes, it's just a waste.

I would wait a couple of years until they get their alcohol license and the chefs get used to the kitchen...

It’s become my fav sushi restaurant, the best in town for me. The sashimi (my fav) was really fresh and tasty. Starters were appetizing, my fav are karaage and tempura salmon. Great service. I had lunch buffet this time and the food came much faster than in the first week of their opening. Unlike some other restaurants, there is the buffet menu on their website with photos of every dish so we know exactly what to expect. Service is great, restaurant is clean and cozy. The food is okay, but not great. Some starters was great, however beef starters (sticks and tataki) was a bit off. Sushi was not great, rice a bit too tough and chewy, fillings was good. Ingredients tasted fresh. Some sushi had such a huge salmon pieces for topping that you could not taste anything else. But it's a beginning of the restaurant and chefs might be still refining technique. The dessert however...
