Bad Experience at Meat Steakhouse, Arlburg, Denmark
Our visit to Meat Steakhouse yesterday evening was a big disappointment. The service was far from convincing, starting with the fact that the gin we ordered was flat something that simply shouldn’t happen with a premium drink.
The bread served to us was cold, even though warm bread is to be expected. The starter, a lobster soup, was carelessly placed on the table and had already formed a skin a clear sign it had been sitting out too long before being served. No one came by to check if we were satisfied.
The 24k gold-leaf Kobe with caviar we ordered as an appetizer was also cold and was delivered without any care or comment. Again, no one bothered to ask if we enjoyed it.
The disappointment continued with the main course. The macaroni with cheese was sticky and had a strong, unpleasant odor, suggesting the cheese was old. The Wagyu steak was served cold because the plates were clearly not preheated. Even the asparagus we ordered on the side came out cold. Once again, no one asked if everything was alright.
Even basic service, like pouring water, was neglected the bottle was simply placed on the table without being served to us.
For the high prices this restaurant charges, the overall performance is simply unacceptable. Such careless service and cold food at this level are absolutely not worth recommending. For us, Meat Steakhouse is a clear red flag, and we certainly won’t be returning or recommending...
Read moreThis was most definitely an experience. Starting with the service, it was outstanding, the staff shows a really good attention to the guests. The food, I tried their ribs, as this often is a place that is skipped easily as a simple dish. It was a simple serving. But the quality of the ribs was high, and their barbeque marinade for it was perfect, a sweet and bitter marinade, not like often met where they are spicy. This marinade allowed for the quality and taste of the meat to shine. For the ribs I had their own potatoes and onion rings, as well as cold barbeque sauce. Their sides are to the smaller size, but they do offered refill of sauce and potatoes. For dessert I had their cheesecake with an Ene Gin and Tonic. I choose the Sea buckthorn (if you have never tried this Gin, do yourself a favor and try it). This was a good match. The cheesecake had a little bit of mint on top, this was perfect as it sometimes have a fresh change in the taste. This would also mean that I think a Gin and Tonic on the Ene Mint gin would be a wonderful match.
I looked a lot around during my experience, and saw a lot of great dishes, and other happy guests. Their showmanship for some of the dishes are great, with table side preparation.
If I get by again and have time, then another visit well definitely be planned.

I was on Aalborg for business and I needed a place to eat, the place looked pretty ok from outside, cozy terrace with heaters and actually some people eating. Within a couple of second I got the menus in my hand, the lady told me that one menu was the "Café menu" and the other one is "Restaurant menu", good enough. I am sucker for Carpaccio, that dish was represented in both menus with a 30DKK difference in price, I asked why, and the lady did not really know from the start, she came up with an answer, the cheaper one was smaller.... I asked one more lady, and she confirmed that again, but not really convincing. I went for the Carpaccio and a "Beef pasta with pepper sauce". The pasta was very hot in terms to temperature. You know when you use the microwave oven for a long time on your home made pasta bolognese? The taste was ok for both dishes. I was really keen on a dessert afterwards, but no ones asked me, no one wanted to ask me if I wanted to pay. I got fed up with it so I asked about the bill, she asked me if she should get it to me or go inside to pay.... Another guy also alone went in there, and he got small appetizer on the house, I did never...
